Some physical play on Cooper's end that got outta hand, combine that with some inexperienced officials who didnt take control of the game....by the time they tried to it was a little late.

Sweetwater wasn't to blame all they did was react...hopefully they don't get DQ'd from the Brownwood SQT

Matt, thanks for the accurate account of what happened. We were right there as it happened...after several late hits that were not called on Cooper they actually got a holding penalty and Sweetwater scored shortly after and that was the beginning of the end.

The player who caught the TD pass for Sweetwater was thrown to the ground by a Cooper player who was involved in earlier instances...not called.

A penalty was called and Sweetwater went for 2 and again when the player caught the pass in the end zone after letting up was thrown to the ground, by the same Cooper player.

These would be fragrant penalties on any level....none the less touch football. When the Sweetwater player got up, he did back into the Cooper player and they surrounded him and the Sweetwater players went to the aid of one of their own.

Talking to several of the Sweetwater players after, it seemed they wished they would have just taken their own player and went to the sideline. In other words acted in a different way....But, the lack of experience from the officials or what ever their problem was should have taken care of the root cause before it reached the level it did.

It is the officials job to handle situations ina game and prevent players from provoking such activities.....I hope these guys learn from this experience and become great high school officials.

Anyone involved in high school athletics knows how we need them!

I probably should rephrase my post some...Sweetwater was not the instigator at all but they did react..unfortunate that sometimes the second team gets caught

Okay, the officials were sub-par. I get that. But, our kids have to be disciplined enough to walk away...seriously. Unless, it was our sophomore QB getting thrown to the ground, then I'm glad our guys bowed up and supported him.

7 on 7 can get pretty heated. We had a junior high tournament yesterday, that we all had to ref several games in. You can tell when the kids get tired (playing 3 or 4 games in the heat) that nerves and tempers get shorter.

Good to see Sweetwater didn't start the whole incident. I can't help but think how fun it was the year Sweetwater lost to Cooper to start out the year a few years ago, then turned around and spanked the Pirates in Abilene during the playoffs.

Stangs, what is the lineup for Sammy Baugh Classic this fall? Last I saw you guys still had some openings.

If anyone has a lead on teams willing to move their game..PM me and we may be able to make it worth moving ....
