Wowhoo!!!!!!Finally there's something for Pancho Villa to coach. Too bad he got knocked off his bucket by so many foul balls back in the day. Pancho, apply at Sweeny right now!!!

I would coach soccer before I would go anywhere near Standaround.

No way, no how, Sweeny will get soccer. That would be a sad day for Sweeny Athletics. Sweeny is already going through some major changes without some other distraction. 2010- 2011 could be interesting year in S-town.

Covering the sport here in Bay City which is in the middle of basketball season and start of softball is tough

Boys won district title and girls made playoffs

The matches go reall quick when that start at 6 and the clock almost never stops unless there is a major injury

a fast moving and have to watch closely on who scores the few goals that are scored. most matcher are 90 minutes and halftime is only 10

This was my first year to ever go to a soccer match since Wharton didn't have soccer.

Palacios which is 3A has it as well- Columbia, Sealy, Royal and Stafford also have it.

Sweeny will get it eventually-maybe not in my lifetime but the will. Wharton and Needville will get it eventually

Needville before Wharton, because they will be 4A in 4 - 6 years. At the rate wharton is dropping their enrollment they are headed for 2A in the next 6 - 10 years

I don't see Wharton dropping to 2A that soon-but enrollment is going down and no one is moving in.

Job market is not that great and younger folks are moving out.

At one time back in the 70s or early 90s Wharton was almost 10,000.

When Kendleton train yard is complete, there will be at least 3,000 jobs open

But most will move to East Bernard and Rosenberg.

I'd love to see some 3A soccer down here. It is very quickly becoming my second favorite sport. I have been coaching some pretty good kids down in Sinton. Coached them from U6-U10. It really is a great game.

As Pancho is to baseball, I think I am to soccer.

It is painful to watch. Had to pull administrator duty one time and it was like watching grass grow. AND WE HAVE TURF!

3A schools who do not offer girls soccer definitely have an advantage in their depth of talent over those who do offer soccer. We lose a difference maker or two per year because soccer lasts until the final round of district softball games.

The only thing that Sweeny and soccer have in common is that they both start with S.......................
