WC round 2 gets underway Monday night in Phoenix. As with round 1, I say the Spurs are on the short end depth-wise, but have the edge in coaching and experience. Should be another high-intensity series.

Interesting fact: both Gregg Popovich and Alvin Gentry were Spurs assistants under Larry Brown in the late 80's-early 90's.

GO SPURS GO!!:2thumbsup

The Spurs weren't supposed to beat the Mavericks, so don't count them out.::D

I hope Dice and Blair can help there. Amare has had more than one great playoff series against the Spurs.
I think the Spurs can do well if they take one in the first two games. Just like the last series.

They've had good luck in Phoenix in playoffs past...

To be honest, I don't really care that much. I mean, the Spurs were the #7 seed and not supposed to get past Dallas. But they did, shutting up their Junior High owner in the process.

And I will admit, hating the Suns is not as much fun any more since their cry-baby of a coach is now in NY.

For the Spurs, it's just another series they're not supposed to win, but just might:)

No, sometimes they play the Knicks, Nets, Pistons and Cavs. Teams which they are a combined 4-0 against in the playoffs:D

They played the Jazz in '07 and the Hornets in '08.

Phoenix is easier not to hate now that Barkley is gone. I never could stand that jackass. Still, GO SPURS!

Well, the Suns are exciting and the Spurs are "boring" according to many, so I'm sure the Suns will win easily.:hand:

I say that if you're all caught up in how exciting or boring a team is, you should go watch figure skating instead of hoops.

I don't know. George Hill is a fourth option the Spurs haven't has since Stephen Jackson. They look pretty exciting to me.:D
Dice in the playoffs... not boring.:)
Tony Parker coming off the bench. Flippin' sweet!

popovich is the man. his teams aren't "exciting", they get "ugly wins". they bring teams down with amazing defense and force them to play at THEIR speed. one of the most underrated coaches out there.

Combination of the Mavs not showing up for most of the 1st round and the Spurs finding another gear! I don't expect that to continue. But we are talking about the Suns! They are as bad or worse than Dallas at "not showing up"!!!!

The intense and stifling defense of the Spurs that held the Mavs offensive dynamo to less than 90 points in 4 of the 5 games gave up 111 to the Suns. I suspected the "Resurgence" of the Spurs was more closely related to the lack of effort on the Mavs part than anything else and at least for this first game it is proving correct..........

Well, the Spurs gave up 100 to the Mavs in Game 1 of that series too. And if you look back over recent history, the games between these two (Spurs/Suns) have regularly been over 100 points for each side. This isn't anything out of the ordinary.

San Antonio is having all kinds of problems matching up with Phoenix through the first 2 games.

It didn't help that Duncan and Ginobili were in foul trouble...hard to be too aggressive when you're trying to stay in the game.

But props to Phoenix...they're playing really well right now.

True, but they have to find a way to matchup with Frye out on the perimeter and stop the pick and roll. If Duncan keeps getting matched up with perimeter players like Phoenix exploited in the 4th, there is a matchup issue.

That wont be the case if they somehow miraculously meet the Cavs this year:D
