Place downtown is called Railroad Seafood Station, Never been there but heard it is very good. Other good seafood places are Blackbeard's on North Beach or Two Georges on Everhart.

I think Two Georges is still closed for remodeling after the fire they had a few months ago.

just a word of caution - be careful how you mention "downlow" I wouldn't suggest going into a place to order a drink and say - "I'm on the downlow, got any specials" :D :D :D Be sure you say 3adownlow :)

Like Catfish Charlies- I think it is on the corner of Alameda, right behind Padre Island Mall-.. Waterstreet Oyster bar is good but pricey down town. Waterstreet seafood market is the other 1/2 of it- it is a little more $ but not as much bar. Don't like Kiko's because there is cilantro in everything- lots of it. There is a mexican place called Rositas- I think it is West off Medical off of crosstown. It use to be good but i don't know if that is even there anymore. All the chains are on S.p.i.d. Snoopy's use to be under the JFK causeway towards Flour Bluff and it was good for any fried seafood. Place called Cajun grill were Country cajun use to be, on corner of Everhart and something...use to be good but don't know if it is still there or not or quality. U & I cafe & Price's Chef is downtown also and ok if you want diner food. That's all I got(can remember)

Any thoughts on City Diner downtown across from Waterstreet? We stopped for a late lunch and thought the food was good. I usually love the crabcakes at Landry's, but the last time I was there, they were very ordinary.

Not exactly sure what category in which one would place Taco Bell, but it wouldn't be Mexican food!! There's Mexican food and there's Taco Bell, if you get my drift. Otherwise, how do you explain how Taco Bell stays in business in South Texas since there are so many good Mexican food places here?

if you feel like a little drive to south Rockport - there is a great Mexican Seafood place on the main drag between Rockport and Aransas Pass - pretty close to City by the Sea.. It's called LOS COMALES.

Rockport, Texas 78382-5001

Phone: (361) 729-3952

I really am not knocking ButterChurn. Just kidding. I eat at the one in Aransas Pass about twice a week for lunch. It is about a hundred yard walk from my office.

You are right. It is a great place to eat. However, your location is a little off. It is located in Rockport across the street from the lumber yard. Just north of the intersection of Hwy. 35 and FM 1069.

Kikos is low quality fast food for a high price.
Best breakfest tacos are in Ingleside.
Mac's best BBQ.

We go to a doc in Rockport and we usually end up at Los Comales. We love the Mexican style seafood dishes they have! The lumberyard and boutique across the street used to be our #1 stop until it sold out to a chain.

For burgers, I love Wallbangers at 4102 S Staples. Its cheaper and better and Fudrucker's, IMO.

As for Italian, Franks Spaghetti House at 2724 Leopard is pretty good. Homemade Italian food and a nice quiet environment.

For Mexican food, I frequent the Taqueria Jalisco 2433 Cimarron. There are several of these all over town and they are not that bad at all. Nicely priced and a lot of the imported help are very easy on the eyes.
;)

For seafood, everyone pretty much agrees Water Street is the place to go but it is a little pricey. Landrys on the Shoreline is another good option.
