Not ironic at all - he lived out that quote to the technicality.

The Stone did not tour in '88, when Jagger turned 45; instead starting again in August 1989, roughly a month after he turned 46. :)

If one is past the age of forty-five and still hasn't gotten any satisfaction, then he's OBVIOUSLY doing it wrong.;)
