Dazed and Confused.. I read an article a while back - Richard Linklater said that he spent almost the entire budget on copyright payments for the music on that film. What a classic movie - and it was about the class of -76 - holds a special place in my heart :)

Dazed and Confused is one of my favorite movies of all time. Not exactly my time period, but still a classic. And there were so many people in that who went on to become big stars...

Another classic! I didn't discover The Wall until I was in college, and then I went through about a six month period when I listened to nothing else.

Dazed and Confused was my immediate thought, Gump was pretty good for sound track as well.

I know most of you are too young to remember, but the soundtrack for "The Magnificent Seven" was perfectly suited to that terrific movie. Starred Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen, Robert Vaughn, Horst Bucholtz, Charles Bronson, etc.

Thats a great movie I havent seen in years. Wonder if it can be gotten on DVD? I bet it's been 30+ years since I've seen it.

I'm sure you can get a DVD of it. If you Google "The Magnificent Seven" there is a movie trailer that gives you some of the music. Came out in 1960. I was just a kid, but can still remember seeing it at the Simon Theater in Brenham with my Mom. Music is really great. Story is based on an old Japanese story about Samurai Warriors, but it is a Western set in Mexico.

El Cid
Ben Hur
Lawrence of Arabia

In the old day, any score performed by Miklos Rosza was always a classic and told the story with his incredible score.

From Dusk til Dawn (ZZ Top, Stevie Ray, and Tito and Tarantula. The best.)

K2 (If you like David Gilmour and Pink Floyd, you will like this soundtrack)

You sir mentioned two reasons why I tell my kids why the true classic movies are truly classic!
Both those scores helped to make those movies.

Now I have to rent El Cid to check that one out.
