The internet is a scary place with to many villains roaming at will!

My little cousin belongs to a website like facebook but for the younger ones. Sadly, some people go as far as to use a child's identity so they may get closer in contact with a young person. She was talking to a boy her age (he turned out to be 48) and they traded numbers and everything. He used someone else's pictures. Well I have always made a commitment to her that I would always be there if she needed me for anything. She came to me scared to death because he had sent her pornographic images to her phone. I investigated further and brought the proper authorities into the situation, with her parents great approval of course. They arrested the man and trial will begin within the next month.

I know we hear it all the time, and I never paid much attention to it, but watch your children's actions, it is easy to take advantage of a kind hearted child. If it hits close to home, it changes the outlook of things GREATLY :(

Good for you! And good for her for realizing she needed to tell someone even if it was embarrassing! And good for her parents for realizing the matter needed to be taken to the authorities.

There are a lot of skeevy pervs out there.

I hate to sound radical, Nate, but child abuse is one thing that gets my blood boiling. If this happened in my family, all I can say is---I would not kill a maggot like this, but I would find him much like Liam Neeson did in "Taken" and beat him within an inch of his life. Sorry this happened in your family and I am glad the guy was brought to justice.

Aces to you Nate, your cousin is lucky to have you around. To my "old way" of thinking we just don't have enough of the old fashioned "out behind the barn repenting of your sins at the end of a 2x4".

I will be honest, my original plan was to track his number and find an address and take care of him the proper way. But it wouldn't be legal, and most likely he would have been given a lighter sentence since thats how it works these days. So the police got involved and I "kindly" told him that the he is lucky we have the legal system. They were kind enough to let me be there for the arrest.

Now my cousin and I are planning a fishing trip and im gonna shed the light on internet use ;)

I hope this guy gets a really tough judge and jury. No probation for this piece of slime. I think the penalty should be castration with a rubber band for this type of scum.

She should be glad you were there for her Nate.

Nate, that is really and truly one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. You are one great uncle, and thank goodness one perv is off the streets at least for a little while. Way to go!

It won't be castration, but if the case is in federal court he will get prison time if convicted. [Judge would sentence in fed court, a jury (probably) in state court.]

Nate, it just occurred to me that if this had to happen, it is fortunate it happened before you made your big trek across "The Pond!"
