Dist 16 is tomorrow I believe. The LE girls should dominate and look to repeat as State Champs. The LEopard boys have performed well this year, but as always the boys DC goes thru Atlanta.

Looking like some meets might get rained out tomorrow. It is raining here now and I still hear the ding of the bats hitting the ball at baseball practice.

Our's (Dist 2-3A) just finished a few minutes ago. Rained all afternoon--they just went ahead and ran in the rain... most impressive performance had to be Sr Reid Strong of Wylie running a 4:24 1600m in a driving rain... 2nd place was Soph Kris Garcia in 4:57 (yes, he is a very well known 3adownlow poster's son ;) --take a bow garciap77). Kris also finished 2nd in the 800 in a new PB of 2:06 to advance to Regional in 2 events! Wylie won both Varsity boy's and girl's divisions but were pushed in both by Brownwood. Congrats Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs!

Brownwoods Derek Longoria has the best throw in 3A in the discus. He's right at 170. Jaxon Shipley is scaring the 37's in the low hurdles. Stehl Ratliff has a 16'+ pole vault this year. Those three have a shot at state. All in all, we are sending 31 athletes to region. (both boys and girls)

I want to compare track times becasue I just have no idea, but I've watched an 8th grader go 7.59 in 2400 and 5:03 in 1600 and he is just killing the field....one of you tracksters help me out and tell me if those are good times.

I am not familiar with any 2400 times but 5:03 in the 1600 for an 8th grader seems to be a good time (he would be less than a second shy of getting 3rd in D28 Varsity District). Cuero's long distance runner, Buster, got 1st and ran 4:41.54 yesterday in the 1600. 2nd place was 4:48.62 and 3rd was 5:02.62..... so 5:03 is pretty darn good for a 14 year old...

Hope the young man continues to improve - no telling what he'll do in 4 years!

Not real sure who ended up district champs (team) because Robstown has NO CLUE how to run a track meet! Hope that's the last meet we ever have to attend there! ugh.

I felt sorry for Weston Shoemate of Edna at our district track meet. He had won second at the Texas Relays. I don't recall the exact time but it was low 14.3's. He had a hand timed 14.08. Anyway we had a shower right before the start of his race and his foot slipped on the first hurdle and he wiped out. Right after that the rain stopped and the track dried off. Talk about bad luck. There was another kid who wiped out in that lane in the JV race also.

Mineral Wells won the district 6 4A track meet this past weekend. Most of these kids are Juniors & Sophmores. Now coming to 3A...get ready Bridgeport, Decatur, Lake Worth...

Mineral Wells, backed by impressive wins by the 4x200- and 4x100-meter relay teams and double gold-medal efforts from Ross Benge and Dillon Wilkins, garnered 10 first-place finishes – qualifying 11 athletes for the regional meet – and rolled up 175 points.

Just how easy was the Rams' district title? Consider this: Mineral Wells outscored district runner-up Boswell by a staggering 72.5 points, and rolled up more points that Saginaw, Brewer, Springtown and Aledo – combined.
