The course was definitely toughened up today. Yesterday there were 9 eagles and only 2 today and one of them was almost a double eagle by Westwood.

I wish the powers that be at Augusta would change their plan for the next two days. they want the winning total to be around 10 under or less. I would like to see them put it back like it was yesterday and open it up for a real horserace. I would rather have 10 - 12 guys charging on Sunday afternoon than 2 guys fighting to make pars to win.

do you think the rain last night had anything to do with the higher shot totals today?

I'm digging this "featured group" on masters.com...
people can say what they want - but this crowd is giving Tiger a very warm reception!

CenTexSports
04-09-2010, 03:02 PM
Moisture has two effects on a course like Augusta. It softens the fairways making the course play longer (no roll on tee shots) and helps the long hitters. It also makes the greens more receptive. So yes the rain did have an effect on the shorter hitters.

It is great to see the older contingent compete well this year. Freddie is the man as far as I am concerned. Pulled for him since early 80's. Tearing up the senior tour. I am not a Tigger fan, I have nothing against him but the media. I almost cannot watch the broadcast for all the coverage he gets. You only see the other players shots as a tape delay because Tigger may have to scratch his arse and they don't want to miss it.

I tell you what, with Lefty trailing Westwood by a stroke and Tiger and Choi just 4 strokes behind, I dnt think you can have a better atmosphere for a Sunday in Augusta, I would love to see Tiger make a charge, as well as Freddy Couples who is only 5 strokes back and maybe force a playoff with Phil.
