Hopefully your behind on your days and think today is April fools day.

Hamlin IMO was not a good fit at all..of the two I would rather keep Adams than Hamlin. Ken was not enough of a gambler to be in a defense that wants to pressure teams into mistakes. Your S has to be able to MAKE plays and he did not

Hamlin has a good back-up but I still think this may be a mistake! IMO.

Cowboys to release Flozell Adams today, too

Posted at 11:29 AM on Fri., Apr. 2, 2010

Not only is this Ken Hamlin's final day, the Cowboys have also decided to release left tackle Flozell Adams, according to his agent, Jordan Woy.

Signed to a five-year extension in 2008, Adams was the final link to the Triplets - Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith - as the Cowboys look to get younger in protecting Tony Romo's blindside either with Doug Free or a draft pick.

"He has enjoyed his time in Dallas with his teammates and the Cowboys' organization," Woy said. "Now it is time to move on to a new team. Flo feels he has several good years in front of him."

A second-round pick in 1998, Adams was named to the Pro Bowl five times with the last coming in 2008. The only offensive tackle in team history to earn more Pro Bowl honors than Adams is Hall of Famer Rayfield Wright (six).

Adams started every game he played for the Cowboys once he was inserted into the lineup at right guard on Oct. 4, 1998 against Carolina. He made 178 starts in his career and came back from a serious knee injury in 2006 after missing the final 10 games of the '05 season.

While Adams was one of the most-penalized linemen over the last six seasons, the Cowboys never felt uncomfortable with him as their left tackle. They were willing to live with a false start or two given the types of speed rushers Adams would face on almost a weekly basis.

According to Stats Inc., Adams allowed a career-high eight sacks in 2009 and had given up 61.75 for his career. In the last three years Adams has been penalized 39 times (24 false starts), including 12 last season.

He also heard from the NFL regarding fines more last season. He was fined a total of $80,000 for six incidents and the results of Adams' appeals are not known.

Adams was scheduled to make a $5 million base salary with a $2.5 million roster bonus due in June.

I agree with Hamlin not being enough of a risk-taker. He was more of a prevent defenseman.

As for Flozell, all I can say is IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!!

Adams is an embarrassment with the mental mistakes. If your gonna have the no back bone coach that cant instill discipline or force his players to be more mentally prepared then cut Flozell.

You mean like Parcells? because when he was in dallas his team led the league in penalties

and for the record..Flozell is deaf in one ear and that has been the MAIN reason for his false start penalties his whole career

I was wondering just what the hell a "Fall Start" was. Thanks for clarifying it for me Keith. Never understood the term "false start" there isn't anything false about it.

I dont think people remember the Minnesota game, up until Flozell got hurt in he 2nd quarter, Romo was getting pretty decent protection, when he went out of the game, the line fell apart

although flozell was great and he did make some dumb mistakes i think it was time for him to go...also free was kinda of thrown in there...after working on it and getting some good coaching i think free can do a solid job but look for the boys to trade a player or two for a high draft pick so we can get a good olineman...and remember doc it was all romos fault that game

Certainly shows that that paricular stat (false start) doesn't really translate to the win column!

With the uncapped year next year, any dead wood the Cowboys have will be cleared out because they won't have to take a cap hit.

Roy Williams should be next, but Jerry gave up so much for him he'll be reluctant to admit a failure. He also needs to trade Marion Barber. His best days are behind him with that running style of his.

Barber is a great 3rd down back and would still be effective in that roll if they wouldnt have decided to try and make him a feature back

Singletary going to buy him a hearing aid? I think I remember an article in the Star-Telegram a couple of years ago that said he was deaf in his right ear, but they continue to play him on the left side because that was where he played best.

Flozell graded out pretty well as a offensive tackle. Even with his false starts he has been one of games best for quite some time. He has knee problems that has really hampered him recently because his latteral movement is limited. It's a good time to cut him because a left tackle with limited latteral movement will get your QB killed. But the odds of getting another that is better is pretty slim!
