Is KArin Wood a chick?

The Mobley guy from Prosper is married to a Sweetwater Alum - Tecka Dent.

Interesting, one from Maine, one from Tenn, Glen Jones would be an excellent hire, ex Early coach Robbie Tindol's resume should be pretty good with what he did at Early.

RM, any scoop on why Coach Taylor resigned? Is he going somewhere else, or just stepping back from coaching?

Sounds like he is just stepping back. He said coaching may be in his future, but doesn't sound like he is looking to go anywhere right now.

This is just a partial list of applicants. Not all are listed and applications are being received through April 9th. There will be current Greenwood coaches on the applicant list.

Coach Tindol would have my vote, but I am a little biased towards him. He was my offensive line coach in Andrews when I was in high school. He is a great coach and has proven he can lead a program deep in the playoffs.

Tindol would be a good choice. Glen Jones might be better...didn't he get in the final run for the Brownwood job?

Glen Jones has won just about everywhere he has gone. Took Ballinger to the Quarterfinals and made several other runs deep. Within 2 years Brady went from winning a few games per season to winning district titles and undefeated regular seasons. He plays smash mouth football with a emphasis on a strong running game, good defense, but passing when the other team will let you. He is a good motivator. It seems to me that a coach like this could bring Greenwood back to the glory days when they were regularly making deep playoff runs with a similar football philosophy. Yes, he was a finalist for the Brownwood job as well. He is not one of those coaches that has just won at one place. He has won everywhere he has coached...However, I would say that his Kermit run was his weakest part on his resume.

Doug Kuhlmann,
athletic director/head coach, Vanderbilt Industrial HS

will be the top choice.

What about the Mobley guy from Prosper? Hell of a coach and guy! He has a couple of state titles under his belt and knows how to coach football and get the kids to play for him. Probably had the best defense in 3A this year at Prosper. At least one of the best.

Guy from Prosper would be a great hire...but I don't think he gets this one.

The DC from Celina (Chad Worrell) would be a great hire as well.

But I still think it will go to Kuhlmann of Industrial.

This late in the school year I also hope they hire within. It would stink for another school to have to start looking for a new coach in mid to late April.

If they were going to hire from within...then they most likely would have already offered the job to somebody within...because they didn't do this...it makes me think that this job will go to somebody outside the program.

I could be wrong...but I don't think so

Coach Kuhlmann is a good coach. Winning tradition at Industrial. I know Althof of Goliad has applied at Sweetwater, Wink, and Greenwood and probably a couple others that have not listed applicants yet. Will need to go to 1A or 6-man school.

I may be dead wrong, but I believe that if more then one coach applies from with in then 9 times out of 10 they will hire from the outside. If the Greenwood staff wanted them to hire from within they should have gotten behind one of the coaches instead of two applying.

According the the MRT.....this is the Superintendent and ONLY the Superintendent's decision. The "last man standing" will be presented to the board Monday night:

Greenwood ISD Superintendent Doug Young said Wednesday the district has narrowed the list of finalists for the soon to be vacant athletic director/head football coach job to three, and added he hopes to have a decision made by Friday night.

The three finalists are Borger Athletic Director/Head Football Coach Rusty Purser, Alpine Athletic Director/Head Football Coach Shad Hanna and Industrial Athletic Director/Head Football Coach Doug Kuhlmann.

Young said he will take the rest of this week to do “deep background and reference checks, and calling with any follow-up questions and get clarifications on a few things.”

Young said he will present a candidate at the school board meeting Monday night, and that a final decision on a candidate will rest with him.

“It’s all up to me at this point,” Young said. “This position is important to this community.”

Purser, Hanna and Kuhlmann came from a list of eight finalists announced on Monday. Other finalists were Bushland offensive coordinator Steven Flowers, Lee defensive coordinator Pat Liles, Greenwood defensive coordinator Lee Brockman, Wichita Falls High offensive line coach Mark Manley and Greenwood offensive coordinator Jayme Tedder.

All eight were interviewed Monday and Tuesday at Greenwood, and those eight were paired down from 91 applications.

“This was tough because I was really, really impressed with every one of our applicants,” Young said. “They are all top notch individuals.”
