Aggie basketball player arrested

A Texas A&M University basketball player was arrested Thursday night for a noise violation.

Derrick Dewayne Roland, a senior guard, was charged with the Class C misdemeanor, which is punishable by up to a $500 fine. He also had an outstanding warrant, authorities said.

Bryan police officers said they heard loud music coming from a vehicle and initiated a traffic stop in the 2200 block of South Texas Avenue. He was arrested after officers confirmed he had a warrant out of Bryan. It was unclear what the warrant was for.

Roland, 21, was released from the Brazos County Jail early Friday.

Warrant was probably just for an unpaid ticket.

Doesn't sound like much agree with the above post about probably an unpaid ticket.

Brazos County website says the warrant was for failure to maintain financial responsibility (no proof of car insurance). If you ask me, this is not big news. It sucks though, because of what he has been through this year. In the end though, he is no different from anyone else, and BPD would do the same to any of us.

Brazos County Justice Web (http://justiceweb.co.brazos.tx.us/Scripts/UVlink.isa/bodreaux/WEBSERV/JailSearch?action%253Dview%26track%253D238847550)

He sat in jail about 7 1/2 hours. That probably at least took care of the ordinance fine.
