Just wondering if having a hosts file, you would have avoided the DNS routing issues?

Anyone know? Just curious as I have been learning a little about this lately.

The DNS system replaced the Hosts file system back in the late 90's when Windows NT came out..

You can still have a hosts file on your pc as another level of security against certain malicious websites. You can direct any DNS name you want to your own computer's loop back address 127.0.0.1. You can make it read-only also so that it can't be hijacked.
