Anyone have one of these fine vehicles with the 4.0 v6 ? if so hows the 1-2 shift?...easy? hard? very hard?

I have an '02 Explorer with a 4.0L V6, and most of the time it shifts just fine. Sometimes, when it downshifts it makes a clanking sound like the u-joint is about to twist off, but it's been doing that for years now without any problem. The only real complaint I have about the vehicle, which I bought new in '01, is the hatch back. It's been "fixed" twice, replaced once, and the plastic molding on the outside cracked recently (which I did get fixed). It has also rattled since day one, if I get on a rough road. Mechanically, though, it's a very sound vehicle.

My wife has an '02 as well, we've had some problems with it but nothing with the shifting.
