Comments: Colmesneil won the Warren tournament by defeating Kountze 8-7 in the semi- final and Warren 2-1 in the Championship. Santa Gertrudis Academy had a big win over 2A George West. Bosqueville, Hubbard, Seymour, Woodsboro and Mart are all strong this spring with Mart taking over McGregor 12-0, Waco Connally 3-1 and Groesbeck 8-3.

Comments: Danbury is a monster while defending champion Brock should be ready when basketball wraps up. Queen City is 5-1-1 after beating Mt. Vernon 7-4 then going 4-1-1 in Longview tournament over the weekend and was 1 of 4 quad champions at that tournament. Wins over Hallsville, Tatum, New Diana and Sarepta, Louisiana. Tied Longview 4-4 and loss was to Jefferson. Junior pitcher Chelsea Ivy has 53 strikeouts on the year. Queen City softball also won twice in the Pittsburg tournament before rain canceled the rest. Won 8-0 over Quinlan Ford in first game. Chelsea Ivy had 11 strikeouts and lost a perfect game in the 6th when she hit a batter. No hits for her 3rd no hitter of the season. Alpine is off to a 6-3 start with wins over Monahans and a tough loss to Coahoma. Goliad pounded George West 13-3. Danbury closed out the Marble Falls Softball Tournament on Saturday by defeating 27-4A Kerrville Tivy 7-1 in their second game of the day and 23-5A Fort Bend Dulles 6-1 to close out the tournament and improving their record to 7-0 and 6-0 in the tournament. On Monday Danbury defeated 24-4A Santa Fe 3-2 to move to 8-0 on the season. Kountze crushed High Island 11-2. The Grand Saline Lady Indians are 5-1-1 after playing five games in the Sulphur Springs Tournament and out-scoring their opposition 54-3. Grand Saline also beat 3A Van 5-4 in eight innings. Alpine continues to play the big teams beating EP Jefferson 9-2, Amarillo Tascosa 7-1, EP Canutillo 10-4 and Amarillo Caprock 6-5 but losing to three 5A squads. Pattonville Prairiland is 8-1-1. the Patriots have lost only to Van and tied Grand Saline. They were 4-0 at Longview beating Paul Pewitt 6-1, Alto 5-4. Sabine 3-2 and Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill 6-1. Kountze takes down Warren 3-1. Drops Hardin 4-2. Beats Sabine Pass 12-0 and beats High Island 10-2 in a rain-shortened outing.

Comments: Columbia has a strong showing at the BISD Tournament beating Galveston Ball 8-0 and Burleson 6-0 before losing to Danbury and Angleton but finishing with a win over St. Agnes 1. Needville beat Angleton 2-1, Hays 3-0, and Danbury but lost to Brazosport and Katy Taylor. Lucas Lovejoy is 7-0-1 after a week of play as the Leopards have beaten Frisco Centennial 2-0 and 4A Del Valle 11-0 as Jordan Stafford had 26 combined strikeouts in the two wins. The Leopards have also beaten Saginaw 13-1, Texas City 4-1, Odessa Permian 3-1 and Leander Rouse 9-1 with only a 4-4 tie with Fort Bend Dulles marring their record. Lovejoy played Argyle on Tuesday night winning 8-0 as Jordan Stafford struck out 17 of the Argyle players while pitching a complete game. Needville beat Dickinson 2-1 (ITB) and Angleton defeated Needville 4-1.

Yoakum beat Spring 6-5 in 8 innings, then to Ft. Bend Travis 3-0. Yoakum also beat Bellville 4-2 and Wharton 5-2 to improve to 5-1 on the season. Bandera is 7-2 as sophomore pitcher Amber Neal has 111 strikeouts in 58 innings of work.

Comments: Brenham ended up going 5-1 in the Austin Tournament. 13-1 overall now. The Cubettes beat Austin Crocket 14-1, Vista Ridge 3-2, Anderson 3-0. Lampasas 7-1 and Austin Bowie 10-1 but lost to The Woodlands 4-2. Lampasas also played at Austin beating Spring Westfield 8-1 as Taylor Holloman had 10 strikeouts and allowed just one hit. The Badgers lost to Austin 6-4 then beat Temple 5-1 then lost to Brenham and Lamar. Tuloso Midway opened the season with a pair of victories then won 6 games in a tournament in San Antonio including beating 5A Judson and O'Connor. Elgin won the Gatesville tournament and the top four teams have beaten some very impressive competition. Port Lavaca Calhoun and Floresville are both playing well. Foster 1 edged Columbia 1-0 (ITB). Manvel Mavericks defeated Clear Lake 4-1 on a ninth inning two run triple by Kelsey Allender. At the Bryan tournament, Manvel beat Fort Bend Baptist and Wylie but lost to Coppell on an ITB and to Austin Bowie. Manvel beat Klein Oak 7-then upset Pearland 8-7 and beat 7-0. On Friday morning, with threatening skies, the Lady Mavs took on the highly ranked team from Clements. Manvel followed those wins up with an impressive 4-1 win over Clements as Gabby Trevino hit a towering home run. Manvel then blanked Baytown Sterling 3-0 and downed Dickinson 5-2 and won the tournament by beating Cy Fair in the finals.

Comments:Smithson Valley won their own tournament and looks solid including a 7-0 win over Plano West. Stony Point has talent while Coppell was third at Bryan losing only to Clements. Coppell beat Celina 8-2 and Garland 11-1, Forney 5-1 downed The Woodlands 2-1. Smithson Valley beat A&M Consolidated is off to a strong start with wins over: Katy Cinco Ranch 7-5 (Cool, Midland Lee 3-0, Westlake 9-8, New Braunfels 12-6, Bastrop 8-1, Pflugerville Connally 11-1, Marble Falls 13-1, Cedar Park 11-1, Dripping Springs 9-6 and only a loss to The Woodland 7-0. Clements is now 13-1 after finishing second at the Pearland Tournament to 4A power Manvel. Clements beat Pearland 2-0. Clements' pitcher Liz Paul has allowed only 21 hits in 82 innings while striking out 156.

Lovejoy has many things working for them. These two stand out to me:

1. Enrollment numbers
2. Facilities

3 teams out of D 26 in the top 15....not bad!! Way to represent!! :)
