Looks like LE and Giddings will meet in the Semi Finals in Austin. What makes the Lady Buffs tick? Who are the players to watch? Do ya'll run and gun or play ball movement and high pct shots?

We mix it up a bit, but seem to be at our best when we pressure the ball and get it up the court fast. Good free throw shooting team. The main player to watch is sophmore Kayla Winkfield who is quick and loves to drive it to the hoop, plus she hits her free throws. Senior Jena Meuth can also get hot, but over all plays a very sound/smart game. Both combined for 57 against Wimberly in the regional final. Jordan Masek controls the offense very well and Cassidy Melcher/Caitie Carney/Meagen Bradley do a great job on the defensive end and crash the boards.

What about LE?

LE will also mix it up. We have 2 big girls, 35-44 and can play half cout sets, or we can run and gun with ourguards 15-20-23. LE will start those 5 normally but will rotate players in and out the entire game. Usually all 12 players score.

Players to watch
44 Bianca Stevenson Sr 17pts 6reb
35 Tia Day Sr 8pts 6reb leads team in blocks
23 Skylar Robertson Sr can shoot from anywhere
5,10,12,14,15,20,25,31,33 will all rotate in different combinations. Sometimes 1 player or all 5 will change.

On defense LE likes to press in an up tempo game but if the opponet likes to hold the ball they usually will back off a little.

Looks like all 4 teams are solid, and it will depend on which team can put 2 solid games together, to determine SC.

Go Lady Buffs!

Against Wimberly, they came back from a 9 point deficit at the end of the 3rd to tie and force OT. Ended up going to 3rd OT before pulling out a 12 point win.

Either Wimberley got into foul trouble or they were just "gassed" or both. Did anyone here make the game?

Kudos to the Lady Buffs for playing their hearts out. We are proud of you and the coaches.

Both teams suffered casualties to fouls. Giddings guard J. Masek and post C. Melcher fouled out either in the 4th, or 1st overtime. Wimberley lost #20 in the 4th?, and #14 in the 2nd overtime (#14 btw, an outstanding player).

It was a physical game - Giddings post C. Carney came away with a huge shiner on her left eye just before the half. By the end of the game it was fully black. It appeared that K. Winkfield sustained an ankle injury, or at least she was favoring it - I imagine she's taking it easy today!

The difference, imo, was that the entire game including the first two overtimes, Giddings was playing catch-up. In the 3rd overtime, they finally struck first and started controlling the game. We saw the kind of play we are used to seeing from them - pressure defense and quick passing offense waiting for the defense to make a mistake and capitalizing on it. With Masek and Melcher out, we saw some play from girls who don't get as much time normally, and they really stepped up. It was very fun to watch!
