I don't have all the details or much time, but please send up a prayer for Kellye (Ranger Mom's) granddaughter. She was bit by a dog (no, I don't know what kind) and her bottom lip is pretty much gone.

Kellye has been at the hospital all day and they are in the process of transferring baby Kelissa to Lubbock so she can see a plastic surgeon.

Please send up a prayer.

Thanks!

I'm sure once she has a minute she'll be on with a full report.

I saw that Kellye called me about 1:55 but didn't get the call until I got off work - I called her (not knowing anything was wrong) they were literally on the way to Lubbock and Kelissa was in the EMS/Ambulance and Kellye et al were following. She'll update when she gets a chance. Prayers from Cuero..

I got a call at 2:01. But, my ringer was off. I figured I'd send her a text after work. Obviously, I would have called her back immediately if I had known of this horrible event. Sorry Kellye and my thoughts and prayers go out to Kelissa and your family.

Haven't heard from her, but no news is good news. Her cell phone might have died on her since she probably wasn't thinking about grabbing her charger though.

Will let yall know if I hear from her.

you're probably right - call about an hour ago went right to voicemail - please text if you hear anything later on. I feel certain things are going in the right direction or else someone would have heard from her.

I talked to RM last night around 9:30. Kelissa's lip wasn't as bad as they originally thought - it was folded under. (I got queasy thinking about how that worked out, so I stopped!) They put stitches (I forgot to ask how many). They did have to knock her out because she kept squirming/struggling.

When Bo (son-in-law) came in, Kelissa wanted to show him her owie and pointed to the IV in her arm. :)

That is really great news. I am so horrified when something like this happens and to know that a friend's family is involved is mor frightening. Praise God for answering prayers and taking care of children.

Thank you my dear friends for all your thoughts and prayers.....it was a horrendous day!!

What made it all the worse is that the dog is my daughter's. He's a Boston Terrier, one of the 2 she and her husband have, and those dogs are their children.

Kelissa spent the night with Ashton and was feeding Bubba (the dog) some snacks. He ate them all and was sniffing of her looking for more, she leaned down to his face and for some reason, he bit her lips.

He got the bottom lip and it just had puncture wounds in it but the top left side of her top lip looked gone.

Ashton rushed her to the hospital and we all met her there....she was a basketcase.

To make an extremely long story short, she ended up being transferred to a children's hospital in Lubbock.

They took awesome care of her. There was more lip there than we originally thought after they were finally able to knock her out enough to clean it and stitch it up.

She will require some plastic surgery to reshape her lip and the surgeon figured it would probably be about a year long process.

She has been a trooper though, hasn't complained a single time about her mouth hurting, just complained about her IV, her heart monitor, the blood pressure cuff, basically anything that was attached to her.

In all, we ended up visiting 3 hospitals and I know that the nurses at all 3 breathed a sigh of relief when she left.

At only 2 years old, she is SCRAPPY!!! She fought and bucked and kicked anytime one of them tried to do anything with her. They finally gave her enough morphine to put her down enough to stitch her up.

One nurse told me she had never seen a 2 year old that was as physically strong and as mentally strong as she is.

She will definitely have to get into sports when she is old enough.

Once again, thank yall so much for your prayers. They worked!!!!

Her mom took a picture of her before anything was done......I can't bear to even look at it.

I am SHOCKED the damage was minimal.....she had a wonderful plastic surgeon stitch her up.

God is VERY good!!
