Comments: Class 1A frequently gets off to a slow start due to limited athletes numbers and basketball season, however, Grapeland and Alto looked good while Colmesneil bounced Kountze 3-0 and tied West Hardin.

Comments: Danbury Lady Panthers got off to a powerful start as they beat 4A Brazosport 3-2 then beat 3A Crockett 20-0, 3A Burnet 4-0, 3A Taylor 6-1 and 3A Cameron Yoe 4-2. Early should be very good once basketball is over but the Longhorns are planning on repeat trip to the state tournament. Lago Vista crushed TAPPS power Hyde Park and looks well balanced early. Hallettsville and Brock are both solid but slowed somewhat by basketball. City View won twice beating 3A Breckenridge 7-3 and 3A Vernon 7-6. Elysian Fields and Warren are both strong while Salado hits the ball extremely well. Poth is 6-1 after competing and finishing 3rd at the Pearsall Tournament. During tournament play Poth defeated South Texas power George West twice.

Comments: Lorena pounded Giddings 14-0 as Taylor Kelm pitched a no hitter and Kaylyn Vranich had both three run and a grand slam. The Leopards then won three of five at the 5A Georgetown tournament losing to 5A power Pflugerville 4-3 and beating the host Eagles 8-0. Rusk won the tournament in Hudson including wins over Nacogdoches 9-2 and Bridge City 8-1. Celina is 4-1-1 on the year after beating Clifton 11-1. the Bobcats played in the Sulphur Springs Tournament where they beat Rockwall Heath 8-3 and Frisco Liberty 16-1 before losing to Frisco Wakeland 5-1(tied 1-1 thru five and got beat on a grand slam). Celina then beat Sunnyvale 11-0 and tied Forney 3-3. Van is now 5-1 after defeating 4A Frisco Liberty, 2A Prairiland, 2A Troup, 4A Rockwall Heath 14-4, and 3A Commerce. Van’s only loss has come to a very solid Hallsville team in the Sulphur Springs Tournament. Sweeny had a good start, except for two losses to 4A Richmond Foster 1-0 and 4-1. Otherwise Sweeny beat Fort Bend Baptist 1-0, Dickinson 4-1, Angleton 2-1 and Terry 3-2. West played in Waxahachie tournament last weekend, 6 games, 99 runs scored, 2 runs allowed. Impressive start. Huntington appears loaded.

Comments: The Brenham Cubettes improved to 6-0 on the season including two shutouts on Saturday as the Cubettes beat Corpus Christi Calallen 10-0 in five innings and defeated San Antonio Marshall 5-0. Freshman Bridget Stein and senior Kaci Federwisch are both 3-0 as Brenham has yet to commit an error on the season. Waco Midway beat three time 5A regional finalist Austin Bowie 1-0 in 9 innings. Kermitria Ward struck out 16 in the win. Sarah Mireles led defending champion New Braunfels Canyon to a 1-0 over Stony Point. Elgin beat Pflugerville 1-0 as Sarah Johnson fanned eight and the Lady Cats scored on a throwing error. Mesquite Poteet stumbled out of the gate going 1-4 to start the season as early injuries proved a setback. Dripping Springs split their first two games while Montgomery is 7-0 after winning the Katy Tournament. The Lady Bears finished on top in the Katy event as they defeated Splendora, Katy and Cinco Ranch in succession for top honors. Sherman scored twice either top of the seventh to defeat Fossil Ridge 2-1 then beat Boswell 2-0 as Katelyn Klug pitched a no hitter and Lindsay Kirkpatrick had a pair of hits.. Frisco Wakeland opens with six wins including four shutouts. Wakeland has an impressive streak with wins over state ranked Celina (3A), Mesquite Horn (5A) and Forney (4A). Wakeland also edged Hallsville 1-0 and has a win over Aledo. Alexis Cantu is a control specialist on the mound for Wakeland who defeated Forney 4-3 in the Sulphur Springs tournament. Santa Fe looks good as they defeated 5A Clear Creek 8-3 then won four of five at Brenham defeated Port Neches Groves 7-0, Converse Judson 3-0, Marshall 5-4, Clear Creek (again) 3-0 then losing to San Antonio O’Connor 4-3. Mansfield Legacy is 4-1 with only a loss to Waco Midway spoiling their start. Legacy has wins over L.D. Bell 6-0, Odessa 2-1 and Midlothian 6-3.

Comments:The Woodlands was unbeaten at the Austin Westlake tournament as they beat New Braunfels 5-0, Vista Ridge 3-2, Austin Westlake 7-5 and A&M Consolidated 7-0. The Woodlands features five sophomore starters. Diedre Outon struck out nine and did not allow an earned run as Pflugerville lost to 4A power Elgin 1-0. Vista Ridge has had an uneven start while Tomball looks strong early on. Katy is 6-1 with only a 2-1 loss to red hot Montgomery. The Katy Tigers have beaten Klein Collins twice, Cy Woods, Cy Fair, Denton Guyer and Klein Oak. Clements beat Bowie 1-0 while Round Rock Westwood blanked Eagle Pass 7-0 and Georgetown beat McCallum and Belton. Connally defeated Gatesville 2-1 and lost 3-2 to Elgin. Clements won the Bryan Tournament, with Bellaire second. SF Austin was fourth and Tomball fifth in the ev

LaVernia and Pearsall have really solid teams both should be considered....I think I know one team that might be a little too high this early in the season.

fyi Crocket is 4A not 3A. Crocket went 0-6 in the marble falls tour.
