The unranked 3A Cuero Gobblers opened their season with a win against the 5A Bastrop Bears Monday night in Cuero. The Gobblers who lost seven starters from last years 27-2 team had many new faces step up and play key roles against a Bastrop team who had seven returning starters who went three rounds deep last year in the 5A playoffs. Many new faces for the Gobbler varsity team this year but with a little time this group may try to make a deep playoff run.

Not too shabby for an inexperienced team. Way to go, Gobs!! Thanks for the post, Headhunter. Didn't make it to the game last night. Are you the man in the booth again this year?

I was there and it was cold :) Great win for the Gobblers :) Next up - Gobbler Classic Tourney Thurs - Sat of this week :)

Arndt, Thibodeaux, and Hoffman return to the mound. Boothe and Tucker come up from JV. They seem to be pitching well at this point.

44, can you keep us posted on the Gobblers at the tourney? Rojosgirl and I will be OU for a track meet this weekend.
