Sweeny vs Somerset Friday @ Gonzales 7:30pm. this will be a really good game. Sweeny very good and Somerset is very good. Two athletic teams. How is Sweeny Not Ranked in TABC they beat one of the best teams in the region twice! Stafford still ranked in the polls. Somerset #13 in the state. Will be a great ballgame.

did not think that Bellville would stay within 15 of stafford. I know bellville is pretty good with browning but stafford is a really good team. sinton losing to lyford is also a surprise. next round will be fun with some great matchups. Sealy vs Lavernia, stafford vs sam houston, somerset vs sweeny, fredricksburg vs west oso. I still think that west oso is the best team in the region. those will be some really good basketball games with some great coaches coaching in them.

I'm pretty realistic. I just hope it is a good game. We lost to Prosper by single digits and played pretty well against them. I am sure Madison is better so if it is still competitive in the 4th qtr it will be fun.

Honestly, Stafford just didn't really press the issue. They would go on streaks where you would think they were going to blow it wide open and then kinda fade. This is typical though as they usually play like this in the first few rounds and then turn it up when the time is right. They are going to have a tough one next week with SA Sam Houston. Hopefully they play somewhere in the area and I can make it out to watch. The winner of this game will have a good shot at the Region IV Title.

I think Region IV is going to be won by either Stafford, Sealy, Somerset, SA Sam Houston or West Oso. I would also throw Sweeny in the mix if they can turn it up like they have been when they play Stafford.

Don't forget Sweeny who has beat stafford twice. I think Sweeny is pretty good. Hondo is a team to watch as well they play mathis 2nd and their third round match against W. Oso will be pivotal. 2nd round will determine a lot and will seperate the pretenders and contenders. Sealy has been beat by both Sweeny and Stafford. Good luck to those guys against LaVernia. LaVernia is well coached discliplined team that will play really good against the up tempo Sealy team as they have seen two really athletic pressure teams in Somerset and Sam and handled it really well. Should have beat Sam both games and played Somerset close one game.

It's a decent sized gym for a 2a but I am with you, it could be way to small to hold two games if fans are going to stay for both. Also, Houston and Stafford play at 5 not 6.

Somerset has some really good athletes and uses a strict 10-man rotation. Halfway through each quarter they sub in 5 reserves for the 5 starters, which can wear down a lot of teams who don't have a lot of depth. Their only loss in non-district was by 2 points to 5A SA Brandeis. Their 2 district losses were both to SA Sam Houston.
