Was he promoted from within? Did he have experience? Did he move up or down in classification? Tell his story.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say from his mom. But that's strictly a guess.:)

Our coach is a hometown alum. When he graduated college he became an assistant at Jacksonville, then Big Sandy (NE Texas), before he was hired as HC/AD at Gilmer in 2000. He's been here ever since, and hopefully for years to come, maybe even retiring here in about 25-30 more years. His record is VERY good here at 112-17 since he took over.

Sinton was lucky to get Tom Allen from coming off as a assistant at two fine schools with winning traditions from Converse Judson and Houston Aldine before coming to Sinton. At our last pep rally he stated that our game against La Grange was special to him cuz he has the opportunity to coach our guys at a place he calls home Converse Judson and was very proud and honored to do that:)

I asked a friend of mine who was on the School Board at the time of his hiring, why he had voted for him. He said that during the interview process, he asked what his long range plans were. Jeff siad that he wanted to watch his grand kids play on a field that was named after him.

Not sure where Coach Prince played high school ball, I believe he played college at SFA, coached Defense at Garrison, then DC at Tatum, then boys AD at Bandera.

It wasn't a cliche'. Coach Traylor graduated from Gilmer, graduated from SFA, worked his way back home to his dream job, built a home on the lake, and established a winning program. He's done exactly what he wanted to do. Coach Traylor has turned down several offers already that would've paid him more money had he chose to take them. I don't see him wanting to move away from home. At least not until his kids have grown up and graduated. Hopefully not even then....

And I would have no problem watching the Bucs play on Traylor Field...reminds me of McClelland Field

Mr. Henry McClelland taught my 7th grade health class his final year before retiring completely. Some of the stories surrounding his teams of the 30's/40's are interesting. Like the year he publicly challenged TAMU to play his undefeated Buckeye squad!

Traylor has done very well, and if he is still here when his grandkids are playing, it would be a shame if the field did not bear his name.

Mr. Henry was my high school chemistry teacher...we were so bad...when things got boring, we would ask a football question & here we would go...the rest of class time was spent on a great story...generally about those West Texas heathens and some underhanded deed.

Phil Danaher came to Calallen after HC jobs at Hamshire-Fannett and Dilley. He had also been an assistant at S.A. Edison.
