The list of schools now in 3A that formerly competed in 5A continues to grow. Miller had one of the highest winning percentages in the state up through the 1960's and it has been slowly dropping ever since.

Miller and Ray still hold the record for the schools that are the furthest south that have won a UIL football title in the largest classification.

UPDATE: I extended the history back to 1954. Wow! They travelled all over the state. Look at some of the teams they played non-district back then:

Midland
Odessa Permian
FW North Side
FW Carter-Riverside
Lufkin
Beaumont High
Port Arthur Jefferson
Wichita Falls
Highland Park
Dallas Jesuit
Sherman
Dallas Samuell
Texarkana

...and many many Houston area teams
