Why in the heck dont they put "plane" parachutes on the little planes? Seams like it would save alot of lives..The little planes cant weigh much at all.:)

seams....parachutes....i get it. ;)

the little planes that would be light enough for a parachute wouldnt have enough altitude for the chute to open.

A friend sent me a video of a small 4-passemger plane that crashed in some mountains. This plane had a parachute. Results were the same.
Everybody on plane died.

Guess it doesn't work.

A ballistic parachute system is available as an option on the Cirrus SR20 & 22. The problem is cost. The system is actually designed to bring down the entire aircraft safeley, but how often would it be used? Hard to justify the expense when light aircraft have such a good glide ratio they can usually find a place to "set it down." And they can be landed on unimproved land.

Possibly. I know absolutely nothing about aircraft. I just remember the video I watched.
