Waco is not what they used to be, Ramsay told me it'd be at least another year before he felt like things would really get going...that is if they give him another year..2-8 doesn't fly at Waco High

The may not be what they used to be but they are a lot of what Wylie isn't and that is lots of bigs and that is lots of very fast.

Matthew328

ehh I didnt see that big and fast last year. I know Wylie will be young this year (just like every year) but they woulda beat Waco by 21 last year.

thats what they said when we scheduled cuero, wiberley, and giddings, and bandera. and we shutout wimberley, gave cuero a run till the 2nd half, lost to giddings in the last minute, and handled bandera

Take it from someone who has watched many Wylie games over the past 10+ years. Hugh Sandifer is one of the few HCs that truley does it right. He treats them more like a scrimmage than a real game, especially in wk 0, 1, 2. He'll be looking at players and situations, much more than being concerned with winning. Just ask Brownwood the difference in how Wylie approaches a non-district vs. district or playoff game. So how ever those early games turn out score wise, dont put much stock into how that translates to a Wylie team playing games that actually count.

Alot of fans don't understand that those first 5 games is not about scoring more, but about preparing for district and playoffs.

Well, when you have 80 kids on varsity you're afforded that
luxury. Personally I hope Slaughter pulls out all the stops and
does everything he can to win as many games possible given
Sweetwater's weak non-district schedule (Monahans being the
exception). Got to start somewhere and I hope 1-9 is not seen
again for atleast another 30 years.

Our weak non district schedule will afford Slaughter the opportunity to get as much playing time for as many players as possible. I hope he concentrates much more on that, than he does on trying to get Ws. But he is certainly in alot tougher spot than Sandifer. It would do our boys some good to see some success early on for sure. Hopefully Slaughter can find that delicate balance, and still manage to get a few Ws early on. I just hope thats not going to be his main focus. In reality we are probobly still a year away from being back to where we once were. I believe he can get it there, if he is willing to do what it takes to get there, and the fans are willing to let him.

He used the entire season to do that last year. That's why there
were freshamn and sophomores starting in place of returning
starters from the team of two years ago. I'm not as patient as
you are. Either he wins now or I say put him on a bus to Frisco
Heritage!

The toughest non-district schedule in 3A? I'll predict 3-3. Wish it was China Spring instead of Waco... then I'd say 4-2 ;) .
