That sounds about like someone saying that he's a good salesman, but just has trouble closing a deal.

I hope UT improves though.

no you are very wrong...at the beginning of the year the polls came out and they were ranked 2...I said there is now ay in hell they are good...and all i herd was they have mason, james, and pittman returning and they have 2 AWESOME freshamn....i said from day one that they werent a top 10 team and they arent....PPL keep talking about the free throws is there problem well thats the least of their problems. they dont have a true point guard.this is a point guard league. name one team who has made a run that hasn't had a true pg. Texas doesnt have this.

When Memphis beat Texas a couple of years ago they did it with an athletic team that was long and could jump out of the gym...Barnes felt then he had alot of "basketball" players but no true athletes..so he recruited that..problem is Memphis had the PG that was the glue for that team...Texas does not have that at least at the moment.

This team can not go deep in the tournament with its pathetic free throw shooting. It's hard to win the close games in the last couple of minutes when you can't hit them.

I think the start of the conference season has revealed that this team isn't as good or deep as many originally thought with its #1 ranking.

If they can blow everyone out to the point where FT shooting isn't a factor, it won't matter. But if they aren't so dominant that they blow people out, it will almost certainly bite them in the butt unless they get unusually strong and clutch performances at the line in the biggest games.

Ain't nothing FREE about a Free Throw...It's just a matter of who has to pay. Right now UT's paying big time.

this has always been my take on UT basketball...

Rick Barnes' teams are mentally weak. They have never won a game they shouldnt have because of his coaching ability. He is one heck of a recruiter and we win a ton of games based on talent alone. When the Horns line up against a Kansas, a Michigan St., A Duke, a North Carolina (insert perenial(sp) power with good coaching) Texas lays a goose egg.
THis season there were some good wins early against teams usually in the top ten but are down somewhat this season. As the season has progressed the Longhorns are not improving while most other teams have not reached their peak.

Just my thoughts. Take them how you will.

relax it's basketball....texas is really good and they have a good coach...if he wasn't he would have been gone a long time ago...........the horns will more than likely beat kansas tonight...students will rush the floor and everbody will be singing the praises of how great the horns are again.

they are good ...in basketball the seasons often mirror the game...and the game is always one of runs or streaks so are the seasons.

texas is talented enough and well coached enough to beat anyone on any given night.

remember the horns are playing in one of the top two basketball conferences in the nation.............funny the big xii is a better basketball conference top to bottom than it is a football conference.

Lots of teams go through this same struggle. UT will get it done in the bracket and go deep. They just need to find themselves.

I dont thnk Barnes is capable of helping his team find themselves.

Nastyslot I dont think UT has a snowballs chance of beating a superior Kansas team tonight. And this has always been my synopsis of UT basketball. Deloss Dodds will put up with Barnes because his teams do just enough to stay in the news but Barnes will never get a championship ring.

being a home game gives the horns a chance.

First off Terry is right on the money about too many athletes and not enough basketball players. Texas has top ten talent there is no question about that they have the tools to make a run. People want to say their freshman are overrated well Bradley has been pretty good he is averaging 12 a game and he is more of a defender than a scorer. Hamilton has struggled at times but he has a huge upside he just seems a bit raw. Typical college basketball "fans" if a freshman doesn't come in and dominate like a Durant, Beasley, or Wall they suck and that is just not the case there arent many John Walls out there.

Everyone wants to say Balbay sucks Balbay doesnt suck he is a role player not a star player. He is a defensive player with limited scoring ability that is who he is now and who he always has been. He doesn't suck he is a solid role player who plays his role well. He is not a starting point guard he is a backup he almost fits the job description for a backup point guard perfectly. It is Rick Barnes who makes him a starter when Brown is the guy who needs to be in the starting lineup. When you start Balbay and Mason you basically have 2 guys who are not scorers in the starting lineup. This puts too much pressure on Bradley, James, and Pittman. I have a lot more to say on Texas basketball and the struggles but I got class Ill finish it later.

Texas could easily lose out after being handled by Mizzou tonight. IF they go 500 over the rest of the regular season do they even make the NCAA tourney?

If they go 500 over the rest of regular season and do decent in the Big 12 Tourney I still think they get in pretty easily.
