Just heard on the news his contract will be extended through the 2012 season. His assistants got contract extensions as well. Thoughts????

McNair obviously thinks he has the pieces in place to take the next step. As long as that defense keeps improving it's hard to argue with his logic.

The right choice I think. Houston's got a darn good team in place and I think Kubiak's a darn good coach.

Glad he can focus on winning and not his contract uncertainty next season.

Looking at the schedule, I see this:

Indy- Home win, road loss
Titans- Home win, road loss
Jags- Win both
Chiefs- win
Chargers- Lose
Ravens- win
Cowboys- win
Giants- win.

Only one home loss, which will be to the Chargers. Road games look tougher.

Raiders, Redskins, Broncos should be wins. I'm pick win against the Jets since Sanchez will be having a sophomore slump. Don't see us beating Philly in Philly though.

12-4?
Sounds good.

I'm not overly pissed about the extension, but after 8-8, 8-8 and 9-7 I don't see why letting him finish the last year on his contract before making a long-term decision wasn't the best choice...

I'll take 12-4, I do agree with having him finish up his contract, then signing for a longer term or, if he fails to produce, go shopping. Either way I am a fan of his and hope he does put us in the playoffs!

Speaking of Texans....they should draft Earl Thomas!

IMO The Texans had there best success this year so give him a time to coach and improve without worrying about the last year of contract.

if Berry is already taken which is a given i wouldn't mind my 9ers taking Thomas with the 13th pick or the 16/17th pick which depends on a coin flip.

Kubs is a first class person who has learned a lot the past 5 yrs as a head coach. I am happy for him.. He will get us there..

I like Kubs, but once again last year they had a giood end to the season when they were basically almost out of the play off picture. IMO he still has not proven he can get the Texans winning WHILE STILL IN THE PLAY-OFF RACE. Not just when they are plying for pride

Kubs did a good job (not counting the Jets game) of getting his team in a position to win. His biggest mistake as a coach was giving Chris Brown so many carries.

you are right, a good quality back is what is missing in the mix..
