Edna's Kam Jones commits to Texas-San Antonio

Edna's Kam Jones will have to wait a year, but he'll get a chance to play quarterback on the college level.
Jones announced a commitment Monday to attend Texas-San Antonio on a football scholarship.
Jones was named the Advocate's co-Offensive Player of the Year after leading the Cowboys to an 8-3 record and into the Class 3A, Division II area playoffs.
Jones completed his senior season by completing 132 of 211 passes for 1,891 yards and 13 touchdowns with six interceptions. He rushed 162 times for 1,161 yards and 15 touchdowns.
"Both UTSA and Sam Houston were going to play him at quarterback," said Edna coach Mike Pierce. "I think it's just a chance to start something new. They're going to be playing their home games in the Alamodome and it's something really exciting for him."
The Roadrunners will compete as an independent on the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision level when they begin play during the 2011 season.
UTSA has already named former Miami coach Larry Coker as its head coach. This year's recruiting class will be redshirted.
Jones will make his commitment official on Wednesday, national signing day.
