According to the Statesman...sources are telling me FW Dunbar will opt up also....the more and more schools that should be 3A but opt up to 4A the wider that enrollment split could get....if HISD's six schools opt up thats 9 schools that should be 3A but arent and all that does is possibly put 9 schools who should be 4A or 2A into 3A....

I don't get that. Eastside doesn't even have the athletic participation of a 2A school. They both need to concentrate on their academics anyway, and playing 4A is not helping them.

What is the advantage of opting up, less travel?

Opting up because of travel won't hold water for the Austin schools; there is plenty of competion in both 3A and 4A around the capitol city.

Primarily all the Austin ISD did (with TEA's prodding and blessing) was scuffle staff around and change the name of the school (Johnston to Eastside Memorial)......now all's gona be better and academics will flourish.....LOL
