First thing's first--congrats, bro!

We went to Turks and Caicos (Caribbean) for our honeymoon and only paid $800 a person for airfare and hotel. It was absolutely gorgeous.

And the best view of them all (Well, if you cut me out of the picture.)...

We went through the Sky Auction website (http://www.skyauction.com/) for our tickets, but you can find outstanding deals all over the place. The week after we got back, we found an all-inclusive Jamaican vacation, including round-trip airfare from Houston for two adults for $1500 on Craigslist.

You have plenty of time to look, and anywhere in the Caribbean or Latin America (outside of maybe the party towns like Cancun) would be a fantastic honeymoon destination. Only thing I would do different is get all-inclusive. The cheapest meal we ate was two hamburgers and two beers. Total tab was $50. Hamburgers are $15 down there. We ate some seafood at one place and shelled out $150 before the tip.

Since we were there seven days, we went light on lunch, but a loaf of generic bread at the IGA was still $5 and turkey meat was $13.

So plan accordingly if you're going to be on an island. If you go to the mainland (Belize, Costa Rica, etc.), however, it's much less expensive to eat.

Airfare to the Caribbean is much cheaper and the beaches are much more beautiful, but if you're looking for something more active (surfing, more watersports, etc.) and exotic, the Pacific's the way to go. Anywhere in the South Pacific or Latin America would be amazing. We were literally five minutes from pulling the trigger on a trip to Costa Rica that included a surfboard rental, scuba session, and zipline through the rainforest when we found that deal to TCI.

Either way, good luck and enjoy the ride.

EDIT: Didn't mean to say "much" more beautiful than those in the Pacific, just "more" beautiful.

Carry on.

Natedawg93......Why would anyone want want to go to New Zealand beaches for their honeymoon in the middle of Winter down there???

I have been to Belize and they have some awesome beaches. I have also been to an all inclusive in Jamaica and they had awesome food....you can and will want to go into town for a meal or two just to get away from the isolation of an all inclusive. We did an all inclusive once in Playa del Carmen and the food was not good at all.....So my advice ( like some others have pointed out ) is to do some research and make sure that the food is good and that they have lots of things to do so you can fully take in the local flavor.

I just booked one for my fiance and myself for July of this year. I got round trip airline tickets for both of us from DFW to Cancun, the shuttle that takes us round trip from the airport to the hotel, and 7 days at an all-inclusive hotel on the beach (3 meals a day, unlimited snacks and drinks) for both of us for just under $1,700. The hotel has 6 or 7 different places inside of it to get food/drinks/snacks.

With the exception of Turks and Caicos (which I want to visit soon), I have been to all the places mentioned and IMO the beaches of Grand Cayman are the most beautiful. The water is gorgeous, the shopping is EXCELLENT (I'm sure that is high on your list) and the food is great, as well.

Most importantly, congratulations!

When my wife and I got married we were broke and our parents barely had enough to cover our modest wedding. My grandpa gave us $500 and that is all we had for a honeymoon. We got a room at the Worthington in downtown Fort Worth, ate at Del Friscos, and partied in Sundance square (mainly at the Flying Saucer). We came back home the next day and went to work on Monday.

We have been blessed since then and have been on some pretty great vacations. I like the beach but like the mountains more. We went on an amazing trip through the Alps that took us through Switzerland, southern Germany, and Austria. Some of the places we visited were breath taking. I will never forget visiting the Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria region of Germany. We had some great beer on that trip too.;)

Coach and Jason, you might look into Cabo San Lucas. Fabulous beaches, great sport fishing, fun partying, and some of the best golf courses in the world.
