Dat did not accept his contract extension and is no longer with the Cowboys.

Some say he is headed for A&M to be a Def. Coach and others say he headed to Georgia to be with former Cowboy Defensive Line Coach Todd Grantha.

I think he would be great fit at A&M as a coach and a recruiter.

I think that is why he is leaving the Cowboys! He was low tier and not much exposure to working with the players.

It is official Dat is going back to AggieLand!!

I think he will be a great coach because of all he accomplished in his careers...he wasn't always the biggest or the fastest....but he did it on work ethics and sheer intelligence of the game.

Whoop maybe some more Wrecking Crew back to A&M as they bring in lots of new blood for the D.

Aggies hire Dat Nguyen to coach linebackers

Texas A&M has hired Dat Nguyen to coach linebackers, according to sources close to the situation. The announcement is expected to come later today or Sunday.

More to come soon on the hiring of Nguyen, who won the Lombardi Award for the 1998 Big 12 champion Aggies, and who spent seven years as a Dallas Cowboys linebacker and then three years as a Cowboys assistant coach.

UPDATE as 5:15 p.m.: A&M has made the Nguyen hiring official. He'll handle inside linebackers. Mike Sherman also has hired Nick Toth of The Citadel to coach outside linebackers, and former A&M offensive coordinator and Tulsa and Louisville head coach Steve Kragthorpe to coach receivers.

Looks like Sherman will simply handle the offensive coordinator duties, which is mostly what he's done the past two years, anyway.
