I have had people tell me I wasn't a "real Texan" because I wasn't born here.

But I am a descendant from one of the original 300 settlers of the Texas Colony.....so there!!!!

I have all the ancestry stuff and I even got a letter inviting me to be a member of the "Daughters of the Republic" but I never did it.

RM, it is more difficult to be an Daughter of the Republic than it is to be a Daughter of the American Revolution. That is proof positive that you're the real deal!! Some of us were born here, and some of us got here as fast as we could.

Mr. Bling's great-grandparents came from Hamburg. He learned to speak German before he learned English which could explain the occasional failure to communicate that we experience.:D :D

219 miles per mapquest. My mom still lives less than a quarter of a mile from the hospital where I was born. I am a 4th generation Texan on my mom's side, my wife is a 6th generation Texan. I am pretty sure I am a Texan.

According to mapquest, about 389 miles from The Woodlands to Ozona, TX. We had no hospital so both my sisters and I were born at home.

My wife (Kaufman, TX) was born in the family car on the way to the hospital.

We may have some distant relatives, RM. I can't remember if my Texas ancestry goes back to the original 300, but we were here for the revolution. As a matter of fact, anything named Henderson (the county, the city, etc.) was named after my ancestors. I'm also a direct descendant of James Pinkney Henderson--first governor of Texas.
