Now that is a sweet job opportunity for a succesful 3A coach wanting to move up alittle. They are undefeated in 2 years with back to back state championships. I wonder if any local coaches have been contacted or are interested????

DC will be introduced as the new head coach at LT....

there will be hundreds of applicants, but it will probably go to the DC there. I think his name was Dave Carter

im guessing they will not open it up to applicants. Since its an inside hire they do not have to!

I don't think that's a sweet job. Anything less than a state title will be a disappointment.

people said the same thing when Morris took the job two years ago after LT won the state title. He then won two in a row.....

false....if an inside candidate is hired they do not have to interview anyone.....they just have to post the job for 10 days prior to making the hire. They do not have to interview anyone.

they may have a local board policy that states they have to interview or take apps but as long as its a candidate that is already is place at the school, no interviews HAVE to take place.....UNLESS this has changed in last couple of years.....

its a weird deal. and honestly, I dont think a lot of sup's know the rule. MOST sups will interview outside candidates just to say they did. BUT...as in the case like at Canadian recently, the Head Coach was hired as Superintendent and at same board meeting, they named an assistant as the new head coach. Forney did the same thing when Maxfield left. Rush was awarded the job without interviews taking place.

I remember when G.A. left Celina for Pilot Point in 2002. There were over 200 people apply. Im not sure if any interviews took place though. I think somebody was just in case even though the writing was on the wall that it was Butch Ford's job

We are getting ready to hire a new head coach from within. NO outside interviews.

The next coach at LT will be Hank Carter. Coach Carter was Coach Morris' DC since 2004 when he was at Stephenville. Coach Carter played for Morris in Eustace and has been on his staff since 2000.

kaorder is correct. If you are going to hire from within all you have to do is post the job for 10 days internally.

Where is everyone getting that Coach Carter is going to be the next HC? Everything I have seen says it is interim, nothing permanent yet.

Statesman Article (http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/varsitynews/entries/2010/01/17/morris_to_coach.html)

“Coach Carter is highly respected among players, staff, parents, and community members,” added Dr. Frost. “He possesses the personal and professional characteristics and attributes that will continue to move the program forward as we work to select Coach Morris’ successor over the next few weeks.”

shamu-

Hank is the interim right now but it should be made official later. Hank had the opportunity to take a very good head coaching job last year but he got a Muschamp type deal at LT to stay.

somebody from LT posted a link over on smoaky that had an interview with a school board official that said it was pretty much a done deal and they are just doing everything (like a 10 day wait) to satisfy the rules for these situations

Anybody know what happened to their OC? His name is Matt Green. He is from Brownwood and he and I played football together. Just curious.
