My friend will celebrate his 30th year with Parker Drilling on the 3rd of next month and I, along with another engineer, are tasking away trying to figure out what to get him. About 8 guys have said they would pitch in so that means roughly around $3,000 can be spent on him. Any suggestions on what a 52 year old man might want for his 30th year?

I thought a brand new Shotgun with some custom work would be nice but not to sure.

I know this sounds like the "easy thing" to do - but how about a $3,000 Visa Card with a note to book a long weekend on us type note. I'd love that :)

See im thinking something along the lines of material objects. Just because work has takin him around the world a few times, and he goes over seas on vacation at least 2 times a year.

If he's a sports fan, how about a big 3D-HDTV?

ESPN will be launching a 3D station later this year with other stations to follow soon.

My husband got a Rolex watch from his company when he had been there 20 years....what a huge waste of money that was.

Those that have met my husband can tell you he is just NOT a Rolex wearing kind of guy.....he would have just preferred the $5,000 they spent on it.

So....he sold it for about half of what they paid for it.

Some are...Mitsubishi and Samsung have a line out now...most of the other major TV brands will be releasing them in the next few months.

How about a great fishing trip to Canada.

I went to this place a few years ago.

If you ever want a fantastic first class trip for Pike, Walleye, and smallmouth, this is it. Monster fish and absolutely fantastic service. If you even think about picking up you suitcase they will break your arm.

Check out the prices. Pretty darn affordable. I still have a picture on the wall in my office and I walk by it every day and I am reminded of it. Way better than a shotgun or a watch in my opinion. Memories are what I am looking for.

Haha. I have been at a certain computer company for 10 years now. At 5 years, I got something with the company logo so prominent, I really don't use it. For 10, they cut out the employee gifts. Oh well.

For those who said a bass boat, I would not get anyone a boat that costs $3000. What a POC that would be.

What about a tuna or a marling fishing trip?
