It's finally here! The battle of the Pirates! I'm looking for a 34 point Sinton victory. Any other predictions? http://www.bayareastudios.com/images/sintonhs.gif

i feel that if burnet and sinton meet up it will be one of the greatest matchups of the year. i think that it would be a good game. not dominated by either team.

SintonFan, you are right about our need to get healthy, our starting outside linebacker Kenny Salone got hurt against Ingleside. Not sure how bad it was, but he did not go back into the game after he got hurt.

Going to be a good one. Have to go with Sinton by 30. Too many weapons.

Sinton by 35!

Looks like we might have an agreement going here.
I'll shamelessly bring this back to the top again.

I say Sinton by 30 or 35, either on sounds good to me. I like to cover my bets.

Sounds good to me, where are the Mathis fans? They've been waiting for this one too. http://www.animationcity.net/gifz/pirate.gif

66, I think they are still in shock from the Oso game. I know I am.

sinton66
11-03-2002, 12:04 AM
I wasn't shocked by that, in fact I predicted Oso by 3. Mathis played them tougher than I thought they might. That is a credit to Sosa. He is a heck of a coach.

Mathis should have beat W.O. and that probably makes the rest of the season hard for them. They can still get into the playoffs with a win @ Sinton and a loss by W.O. in the finale. I don't see either one happening- W.O. is playing 1-8 Ingleside at home and Sinton is on a serious roll.

Mathis will come to play after last year's pummeling and with the chance that they may still be able to get into the postseason. If Sinton gets up 21+ pts in the 1st half, I'd be suprised to see Mathis come back- at all.

sinton66
11-03-2002, 02:20 PM
Ok, that brings up a question, maybe Hannibal knows the answer. If Mathis beats Sinton and Ingleside beats Oso, wouldn't they be tied for 3rd place at 3-2 each? Isn't the first tie breaker in a two-way the head to head score? In that case, Oso would get the berth anyway. Have the tie breaker rules changed? Do they do a power point thing for a two way tie now? I really don't see Ingleside beating Oso, nor Mathis beating Sinton, but does anyone know for sure on the tie breakers?

RiverRat19

If Mathis wins & WO loses, Mathis would end district play at 3-2 (losses to AP and WO) and WO would be 2-3 (wins against Taft, Mathis; losses to AP, Sinton, Ingleside) and that would let Mathis in behind AP.

If both WO and Mathis lose, this forces a 3-way tie between Mathis, WO and Ingleside, and puts Mathis into the playoffs with a plus-17 power points ratio- according to the Caller-Times.

sinton66
11-03-2002, 02:43 PM
Ok, if they both win then they would be 3-2 each, and Oso would advance because of head to head, right?

Gotta try this just to see if it works. http://www.caller2.com/specials/2002/hsfootball/images/super3.jpg Curt Jones, Adrian Alaniz, and Chance Schmidt

RiverRat19

66-
If both are 3-2, WO has the tiebreak. This is the 2nd (distant 2nd IMO) most likely situation. Ingleside is not solid enough on D to stop the more talented WO off- they should win big and end the question of who will get the 3rd spot.

Hey guys, head-to-head wins do not factor into who goes to the playoffs in a three-team plus tie-breaker system. The whole thing is based on power points. If (and that is a big if) Mathis wins and Oso loses, then Mathis is the third team, based on power points.

RiverRat19

Right, points would determine the ties for 3rd. What I meant was if WO and Mathis are both 3-2, WO gets in. Its a "dual-credit" thing :)

sinton66
11-03-2002, 10:13 PM
That's what I was asking about too. Either way, look for Sinton to be ready and for Mitchell to play the starters all four quarters. Think Sinton has a team goal? http://www.bayareastudios.com/images/2a3a/3a07-09-06-02.jpg

Mathis only way to make the playoffs is for West oso to lose. They can lose or win against sinton it wont matter which one it is. So by that i think the Mathis Pirates fan should go to the oso vs ingleside and root for the mustangs, cause if they somehow get into the playoffs they could suprise some teams. But very unlikely that West Oso will not win easily.

Sinton 47
Mathis 7

West Oso 36
Ingleside 14

Sinton should be up over 5 to 1 on pf/pa now, Should do well against Mathis at home. The wet field conditions won't help any, but it won't help them either.

Nobody has beaten Mathis by more than 15. I predict Sinton by 30. They are not that weak! I hope all teams can play a clean game. Come on, all 30-3A fans should root for the all playoff teams from this district!!!
Go 30-3A!!!
Go Sinton Pirates!!!!!

We will, my friend. But I'm not gonna root for Mathis to make it there by beating us. I will root for AP and Oso, I promise! :D :D :D

Playoffs are always determined by head to head. You guys are talking about magical situations. Mathis beating Sinton and Ingleside beating Oso.
Playoff bound teams from 30-3A are Sinton (D1), AP and Oso, respectively. Can't see Mathis making it into the playoffs with Both AP and Oso beating them.
One more thing, which round will ALL THREE of these teams advance to?

sintonpop

Sinton by 31 over Mathis

Oso by a bunch

Therefore.....Mathis parks the team bus!

Peace...Hannibal, glad to see things smoothed over with Sinton66. He's a good man.

Sinton's first test will come in the third round against a very good Burnet team.

AP looks good for the third round depending on their defense. (We all know Blake can carry the O)

Oso could run into trouble in round 2 against Port Isabel.

It should be a tough game. It must be remembered that Mathis still has a chance to get into the playoffs even though it is very slim. But also they will be playing for pride too and for Mathis it will probably be their big game for the year and Coach Sosa will have his team ready. I still think that the Sinton Pirates will win though by 7 points.

Sorry guys, Been out of town.

My opinion: There's no way that West Oso will lose to Ingleside. Don't think that Ingleside will even score against Oso's defense.. And Mathis won't even come close to beating Sinton. Sinton is way to good overall.....Mathis will have to wait for the playoffs next year...
In the meanwhile, I'll be rooting for 30-3A.....

Good Luck to Sinton, Aransas Pass & West Oso in the playoffs.....

Yea, 75, we both know that. However, Data Poll has Sinton by 42.5. Haven't seen the others yet.

first time taking a look at the data poll and its a bad poll on how the teams are rank. But there points spread is ok. This year 30-3a as a whole is alot stronger than last year. Good Job 30-3a teams.

This is for Hannibal and all of those others who are confused about three-team tie-breaker systems. When it comes to determining who gets into the playoffs in such a situation, the District goes to what is called Power Points. It is a little complicated but the most any team can earn for a victory (regardless margin of victory) over one of the tied teams is 18 points, or a negative 18 if losing by 18 or more points. But all that has to happen is have Mathis lose :D or Oso win and it will all be averted.

sinton66
11-05-2002, 08:17 PM
Thanks gofor2, but I don't think any of us were confused by that. We were talking about a two-way tie being decided by head to head results.

if oso loses mathis is in on powerpoints over west oso and ingleside Sinton mathis game has no bearing on who makes the playoffs. Its oso's ticket to the playoffs to lose or win. All three would finish with 2-3 if oso and mathis lose. eek!

I see in the San Pat tonight that the only two starters are Adrian & Chance? I find this hard to belive this. Anyone know anything on this?

tap_tx_sinton
11-06-2002, 09:48 PM
Four key starters will be notably missing from the line-up and five more are on probable/questionable status. Rodriguez will not play due to a severe ankle bruise and Jerry Jurach will also miss due to a staph infection in his right knee. Then add the fact that Heard back spasms, Julian high ankle bruise, Jones(leg), Kenny Salone shoulder brusise and Brandon Salone deep thigh bruise will all be sub-par...., and you have the perect ingredients for an upset.

sinton66
11-06-2002, 10:28 PM
I know that Kenny Salone told my wife today that he will play Friday night. I think Julian is pretty much back to full speed. I don't know if Heard played last week or not, but know he sat out against Taft. Curt Jones has been cleared to play, the rest I don't know about. It may be a little closer than some are predicting, but I still can't see an upset happening. http://www.clipart-graphics.net/gallery2/animations/smile/tn_smile28.gif
