Either that or the ECU kicker made the fastest trip from Memphis to San Antonio in history.

from the looks of his play it was a mistake NOT to give him a scholorship

Mike Leach took small school and unknown recruits and put the program on a national scale.
Small Texas high schools have lost a coach willing to take a chance on the “little guy.”

I would have loved to see Tech play LSU.

This game obviously wasn't a great challenge for them...and they needed to be a big stage today.

More of the Texas colleges are noticing talent in the smaller schools now. UT has a starting QB (McCoy) that played 2A ball and a WR (Shipley) that played 3A. Defense has one or two (Beasley from WOS) from 3A also. A&M had McGee (drafted by Dallas) who also played 3A. Leach wasn't the ONLY one. "Little guys" who play big ARE getting noticed. I believe the ones I've mentioned here have opened that door for the future.

I agree 66. I remember the small schools basically had a head coach and an assistant at the smaller schools. Now there are good coaches in the smaller schools even though most of them move up plus the training facilities are now better there plus more coaches than two.

I'm not going to take the time to do it, but if you look at the Big 12 as a whole, more players from small schools are at Tech.
Yea every school has got a few, that I agree.
Besides my point was that Tech has more walk ons than most. The players you mentioned were all on a scholarship.
I didnt know this until yesterday:

Adam went to tech to play baseball, and he wasnt very good. The baseball team, after seeing his effort and ability, decided that he wasnt D1 baseball material, and got rid of him.

Mr. Craig James then went and asked coach Leach if his son could be on the Red Raider football team. Coach Leach let him on the team, and here we are today...He was NEVER recruited by Texas Tech to play football.
