How many AAA schools are going to move up and where do you think they will go?

Does Padilla make any suggestions?

Padilla is pi$$ing in the wind. He predicts that there will be over 200 3A teams....not-a-chance.

i just skimmed through his projection/predictions districts for 3A...they looked a lot like many of the current 3A districts.

I think the top number inches up less than 15 and the bottom number only 10. I think they will add teams to 5A as they have talked about. Its the only way to keep the ratios in the ranges they want without going to a 6A class... Top 3A number will be 985-995 bottom will be 430-440. That will throw this prediction into the trash.

what has the increase trend been in the past...it might give us a better idea of this realignments possible increases.

First you can't have more than 245 schools in 5A. I know they talked about going up to 256 total 5A teams but that would require a change in the UIL CCR. They did those in October and did not change the 245 rule. Secondly Dr. Charles Breithaupt has been quoted that he would like to avoid byes in the playoffs for 3A. To avoid byes they are going to have to add teams to 3A whether they do or not is a different story. The top end of 3A has increased by 200 in the last decade with the largest realignment increase happening in 2000 (66). 4A on the other hand has increased by 305 in the last decade. Which is why schools like Sville went from being a middle tier 4A school to the cusp of a 3A school. Here is the biennial reclassification data: http://uil.utexas.edu/athletics/pdf/biennial-reclass-data%20.pdf

Now they have not raised the number of 5A schools for next year but they do have the ability to do it. If they do that it will fix most of all the problems. all they need to do is go to 260 and the ratios should even out to what they try to achieve.

No they can not have more than 245.

"This critical stage is done according to the policies previously determined by the Legislative Council.
Beginning with Conference 5A, procedures allow staff to take no more than 245 schools into 5A."

Actually I heard we're skipping 4a all together and going straight to 5a!
