My first Longhorn memory was watching the '75 UT/A&M game. A&M won 20-10. My dad was a big Longhorn fan so back then if the game wasn't on TV (and many games weren't, as there weren't 100 different sports channels) then he would tune it in on the radio.

man, there's a bunch of babies that post here.....as in young'uns. My first real memory was going out to the driveway and crawling in the truck with my Dad to listen to the 'Voice of the Southwest Conference, Mr Kern Tips' on the Saturday broadcasts. All brought to you by the Humble Oil Company.

The first game I remember watching was the '67 Cotton Bowl against Tennessee.

My first memory was the 1969 NC at Arkansas! Here's a report I found on it...

In the 100th year of college football, it truly was the "Game of the Century." The Longhorns overcame turnovers and a 14-0 Arkansas lead to post a 15-14 victory. James Street scrambled for one touchdown, got a two-point conversion and then hit Randy Peschel on a dramatic 4th-and-3 play late in the game. Donnie Wigginton, the third-string quarterback who was the holder, made a big save on a high snap and Happy Feller booted the extra point for the winning score with 3:58 remaining. Tom Campbell's interception on UT's 21-yard line halted Arkansas' final drive.

We lived in Longview and that was where Street was from.My mother had a crush on him!LOL

i was at that uga. game.....and was on the end of the field of the muffed punt....georgia hadn't moved the ball all day...was 9-3.......following the fumble the uga qb would score............I was at the time a huge horn fan (hard to believe).....i used to make a yearly pilgramage to rooster andrews.........i still say if the horns and field goal freddy could have held on they would have at least shared the titled that year.....miami upset number one nebraska that night.

the bama cotton bowl was a bad one for me.....had a ticket but was sick as dog....and my mother would let me go ( i was 15).

I used to have all of the posters and pocket schedules, but their all gone now. The only thing I have left is a 1968 Texas schedule coin like the one below. My Dad worked part time at a Enco station and I had tons of the stuff

That must be pre-1976 because U of H isn't represented.

I vaguely remember those posters (I was born in '68)...occasionally FSN will air a show called "SWC Legends" in which they show highlights from a particular SWC season. It really makes me nostalgic.

Ha... wonder what's going on in those mascots heads?

Owl: "I'm probably smarter than all of you"

Horned Frog: "any of you have some more crack?"

Razorback: "Heyyyy, why's the horned frog get to hold the football?"

Mustang: "why'd they make me look like an ass?"

Bear: "Because, you ARE an ass, shut up!"

Red Raider: "I gots a lil Captain in me..."

Aggie: "Wow, must be my birthday ;) "

Longhorn: "The Aggie's touchin' my leg"

Now I'm really feelin old. My first was the 63 Cotton Bowl against Navy and Staubach. Duke Carlisle was the QB is about all I can remember. I found out later that my HS football coach David McWilliams was the center for Texas that year.

First Texas game I went to was in 1974 against the Aggies in Austin

It was on a Friday afternoon and freezind cold and windy
We were on the opposite of the upper deck

Horns won 32-3 and Aggies were 8th ranked

We drank a lot of hot chocolate
After the game we went to the Texas fou ntain to see the tower lit

I was going to UTA and bemoaning our lack of a football team to cheer for. Luckily, our school backed the Horns of the mother school and I finally became a fan.

there were few good moments in the '89 season..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6k4zly-eOI

But 1990 was better...

Check out the SWC conf video at the beginning of the second half.

(The last to videos really are pretty cool. Good job to the guy who put those together...)

1988, losing to Houston 66-15 at old Texas Memorial Stadium. Our coaches took our junior high athletics team to the game. Despite losing, I was hooked on the Horns. I remember buying a program and getting Keith Cash's autograph after the game.
