What's more, is that the flag didn't come from the line judge who was right on top of the play, but from the ref. behind the LOS. Now, by rule, you are supposed to allow for human error on the clock timing as well, but after a 30 second review they decided that that didn't matter either. Call it what you will, but if you can manage to take off the burnt orange sunglasses, those 2 were big game changers if you ask me.
If the roles were reversed and Nebraska would not have gotten those calls, everyone would have raised a stink. At least UT was on the upside of some questionable officiating. :D

I had just told my daughter the Neb kicker could kick it to the back of the endzone whenever he wanted...why they didn't do that blew me away...I still believe Texas could have gotten down within FG range but I wasn't giving them much of a chance to do it the way they played offensively tonight.

Questionable was the kickoff that the UT player dropped and they called him down at the 1 yrd line. He never had possession.
Yes Texas won a squeaker, but there are a few things to think about.
1: The 1 sec left was legit
2: There is no way to say Texas wouldnt have won if that kick wouldnt have went out of bounds. Sure it would have been a different set of circumstances, but they had a 1:30 with 2 timeouts...anything is possible.
3: Alabama beat Tennessee on a last second field goal block, how is that any different then Texas winning with a last second field goal?
They won, get over it! TEXAS FIGHT

Yeah, I noticed that too. But Colt showed some cajones and got his team out of the shadow of their goal post before that interception.

Thats the million dollar question. Nebraska gave the game away. Very poor coaching.

Chris Fowler just said that he would probably rank TCU higher than Texas on his ballot.

There were calls that went against both teams. The officials did not determine who won, that was done by the 2 teams

It was a close game but there really was one second on the clock. That is why the officials review plays and the sports comentators said there should have been one second left. Before reviews time would have expired but that is why they have reviews to try to get it right which they did tonight. Still Colt almost blew it and let the time get away and it was close but he still got it off and there was one second left.

I went to the game and had a GREAT time! (And yeah, there was still one second on the clock. The side judge immediately called it correctly and was backed up by the Head official.
Texas did EVERYTHING they could to lose that game. EVERYTHING!
Nebraska had the best D we have seen all year.
If we played like that and were still lucky enough to get a chance to win, and then capitalize on it?
Then, yeah, bring on Bama.

The Big12 would have benefitted financially from a Nebraska win. I don't believe the refs had a hidden agenda.

What clinic did you go to where you "learned" that description of what we look for on the horsecollar? I never learned it that way and do not teach it that way. Also, it is not uncommon for the official who is closest to a play not to flag as sometimes he is too close and does not see the whole action. Bottom line, that WAS a horsecollar foul and was correctly called.
The officials on teh field did not even need the instant replay. They knew there was a second left and were going to put it back even before the review. It was so obvious even the replay official did not need long to look at it so he ruled correctly. Bottom line, a second was added properly.
There were mnistakes made by the officials in this game, just as there are by officials in EVERY game. The mistakes made favored or went against both teams. Bottom line, the officials did not change the outcome of the game.

Question..was the 2nd chop block call a good one? It seemed the offical called it on more on the intent than actual phyiscal play imo. It seemed Hall did not actually hit Suh while the other OL was engaged with him

Talk about an escape. I was right on everything I said, which is slightly surprising. Texas didn't score 24, Shipley didn't return a kick and Suh utterly dominated. He deserves the Heisman more than anyone. Unfortunately he probably won't get it and that's a shame.

Very close call. From the camera view, it was marginal. From the U's view it probably looked like the classic chop. The video:

Yea it seemed like one of those it appears to be plays that an offical is almost programmed to call because they see it so much
It just looked like IMO Suh was doing the engaging more than the OL was engaging him

The line is not exempted from chop flags just because the defender is doing most of the engaging. But there was really not much engaging by the defender in this play anyway.
If it was a miss it was not as big a miss as calling the UT kick returner down on the muffed kick return.

I love this comment. It's always funny to hear people say "take of the burnt orange sunglasses" when most of those same people need to take of the anti-burnt orange sunglasses. Good call Gobbla.
