View Full Version : Which pro athlete?

If you had your choice to have been any pro athlete who would it be and why?

I would have to go with Cal Ripken. His character and longevity would be my biggest reasons, but he was one of the greats that should no doubt be a first ballot hall of famer!

I think I would pick Captain America---Roger Staubach. He was a great athlete, team leader, scholar, military officer, and posseses great moral character and high standards. He has gone on to be as successful in the business world as he was on the field and serves as a great ambassador for Texas and the Metroplex.

I would have to pick Ray Lewis. He has money. He is one of the most feared MLB to play the game. He has an attitude that is just contagious. His leadership skills are over everyone elses. Won a Super Bowl and also the MVP. And he dresses like a Pimp. So my choice is definately Ray Ray!

I love Ray Lewis' play on the field and this is where I could say
"He was found not guilty in a court of law". But, so was O.J. Simpson.

Bob Lilly. A true gentleman, unless you were Conrad Dobler receiving one of Bob's head slaps......or Bob Griese being chased down for a 29 yd loss......or Jim Brown being run down from behind 40 yds downfield by a DL outweighing you by 50-60 lbs, or Duane Thomas being lifted up against a locker room wall by the throat.

And I dont care how much money they have, or how big a pimp they are......Tiger is proving that aint worth much.

Randy White. The man was a true bad ass on the football field, and everyone in the NFL was scared to death of him, and for good reason. But in truth he was a great guy. I had a few cold ones and shot the breeze with him for a few hours one day. It was a blast!
Or
Nolan Ryan. No explanation needed.

I have two and they are totally on opposite ends of the spectrum as far as humility goes, but both would be great to experience life as

1a. "The Greatest" Muhammad Ali
1b. "Sweetness" Walter Payton

When he was popping knots on Ventura's head, I jumped up and yelled NO NO NO. I just knew he was going break that million dollar hand on that pos's head.
Luckily he didnt, and was fine. Then I started laughing my butt off. :D It's still the funniest thing I've ever seen in baseball. Randy Johnson hitting the bird in flight comes pretty close though. Bird exploded like a bomb. LOL

Mine would be Brooks Robinson.

Robinson played his entire 23 year career with the Orioles (something you rarely see). Nicknamed the "Human Vacuum Cleaner," Robinson won 16 consecutive Gold Glove Awards. He also earned 15 consecutive All Star selections, 2 World Series MVPs, and was selected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
