When I first joined the downlow, Gainesville was one of the better teams around. What happened to them?

Tatum had a couple of classes that numbers did not matter. The numbers game has caught up to them. Look for another drop to 2a and then lookout. if they stay 3a they will continue to struggle.

I talked to a couple of J.V. players last week and Gainesville will be the best team to ever grace god's green earth next year.

Bull, Atlanta just does not have the talent for 16 3A. Put them in another district and they would probably win it and go at least to the 2nd round. Put them in 17 and they would be 2nd or 3rd behind Gilmer.

When Burnet lost to Gainesville, they had a great RB. A short
period of time after the finals, the paper had an article about this RB being in trouble with legal problems. What ever happened to him? Did he get his life straightened out?

Midland Lee?

Converse Judson? they just split high schools so it may take a few years for them to get back on top. Still made the playoffs which is outstanding considering the split. most teams rack up a big ole goose egg when they split.

Terrius Purvey.. I talked to him about a year ago and he was going to school at Cisco and said he was going to try to play football this year but I didn't see his name on the roster so I guess that might have fell through.. He's a good guy, just got mixed in with the wrong crowd at a cruical part of his life

Agree, they are just too small to compete consistantly in 3A. In 2A look out.

Old Tiger,
Are you serious? If that is true, what a waste. The young man was really good.

Gainesville has seen steady decline since the departure of Jeff Cordell after the 2005 season. Players stopped coming out after that i guess because they were in the 2005 d1 title game and went 1-9 the next season...ouch

Decatur is usually competitive, aussie. They have a big 3A enrollment and good turnout. Based on what I've seen the last couple of seasons, I think they just need some more dedication and putting kids in the right positions from the beginning of the season. They played the Bulls tough the whole game this year, and didn't put up that kind of effort against anybody else.

Doesn't look like it... could be a different 23 yo Terrius Purvey whose release date is set for 1/31/2012...

Dunno how that works, release date may be date parole/probation ends etc...?

Not sure, I closed the page already but the two charges were from 2/09...
