Hey, whatdoyouknow, not much! Lose the temptation, go read the National Intruder, seems you belive everything hear or read. Congratulations to Graham on the big win against a tough Bridgeport squad. Looking forward to this week's game and pulling for you to win it all.

Enough bickering, lets get to it. If Graham doesn't turnover the ball like Brownwood did we should win. Our D will be playing hard all night and shutdown whatever you throw(or run from what I hear) at us. It will be an awesome game for sure, and at this point no game is an "easy game". It will be hard fought and Graham will expect to win and play to win.
I hope its a good clean, injury free, game, and may the best team win.

I hope its a good clean, injury free, game, and may the best team win. Yeah, if we can stay away from throwing interceptions it will all work out. The run game was on all night and I don't know why we kept trying to throw the ball when we didn't really need to. Don't get me wrong, we had some good receptions and great passes. But, there's no need to pad the stats this late in the season. Graham should come out with this win if they are smart on offense. We all know they have a very tough defense that can stop just about anyone. Good luck to both teams, should be one for the books.

It's just nice to talk to the boys (Steers) and see the fire in their eyes and that they are so ready to play this game! So I will just say the Steers are so ready so BEWARE TEXANS!

yikes. i kinda thought his post was a bit inflammatory...i havent heard anything like this before, and I dont want any part of it now. Let's keep this about the game and the smack talk that surrounds it...let's leave the trash to just that...the trash.

Ya know...this very week, 4 years ago, I was talking the trash with the WOS folks. The difference is...we were 13-0 at the time, and had state-leading stats to back it up. We all know how THAT turned out.

This time, we don't have such stats...we dont have an unblemished record...we dont have individual players that are in the states top 10 (I am not even sure Smith #5 is in that ranking right now)....we have a season-history of being lackluster and downright sloppy many times...too many times.

However...its the play-offs. And the things mentioned above don't mean anything. The Wimberley coaches have the team absolutely at their top form...as good coaches do. If you want to go on the season as a basis to predict this game...we lose, and probably lose big.

But if you go on who is hot, then we are there. We CAN beat Graham. All we need is to step it up one more level, and we are there. If we don't step it up, we will need Graham to make mistakes...like Brownwood. Either way, we CAN win this game.

I believe we WILL win this game. No offense to Graham..I just believe.

I have a question to those close to the Graham program. Why does Graham continue to try the directional kick when most of the time it ends up out of bounds? On top of that when they have to rekick they decide to go ahead and kick it deep. Last week against Bridgeport the Bulls would catch the kick around the 10 yard line. If they would have just kicked it deep to begin with there was a good chance it could be a touch back, or better yet stopped before the 20 yardline instead of starting around the 30.

Which will we be this Friday? In a way, it doesnt matter really...we have nothing to lose. We have already shown that we can beat the big boys. We are very young, and we are absolutely tickled pink with the results so far. Sure we want to win...but we already have.

If I were playing a team like Wimberley, I would be very concerned. Not about whether or not you got the talent to beat us, we all know you do...the queston is....will you use that talent the right way this Friday? Beware, my friends.

Any time you play in December, you should assume every team will "bring it". We would expect nothing less. And if we win, all the better that we beat a team who gave their best (as opposed to the old and tired excuse of "we gave it away"). Know what I mean?

Just a couple of curious thoughts. How is it that Abilene Wylie had 8 turnovers and Graham only scored 13 points?

How is it that Brownwood scored 28 points against arguably one of the best Defenses in the state but could only score 17 against the Texans? or ..... Brownwood's fourth string QB threw for 420 yards against Graham but only 213 yards against Wimberley? .....or Brownwood accounted for 530 yards of total offense against Graham but only 334 against Wimberley?

Just wonderin' :confused::thinking:

Most of the comments about McCoy (MOST--not all) have been simply stating what his own actions were, not insulting him. And if he doesn't want people making comments about his actions, then he shouldn't DO THEM.

Which is not to say that I'm not rooting hardcore for Graham this week. GO STEERS!!!!

I also have to say it's a little incongruous to see people who've been here a matter of days trying to correct MODS and people who've been here for years.

Abilene Wylie has a phenomenal defense that, even with 8 turnovers, held us to 13 points.

Brownwood, I can't believe I'm agreeing with Rocket, gave it away. They played terrible and the stats show. But thats not to say they're a bad team. They just had an off day. That's NOT to say Wimberly is a bad team either! They're going to play their hearts out just like Graham, I just wanted to answer your "curious thoughts" from my perspective.

I totally agree with everything you said! Now just remove Wimberley from that and you have the Graham Steers, perhaps a great deal more than Wimberley!! Has your team ever been this far in the playoffs? Nod yes. Has your team ever won STATE? Nod yes again. Has Graham to any of the above? Shake No. Are we proud of our team for getting this far? Dern skippy!!! Are we satisfied enough to just coast this game and hope ya'll don't embarrass us?? Nope, not happening. We are coming to play good ol texas football! We are going to be playing lights out, leave it all on the field, fans screaming, horns honking, friday night lights football!!! Last year we were like 3-7 or some such, this year we have lost one game by 1 point, some have been closer than we would have liked, but are in the books as a W. Regardless of the # of points on the board we are already WINNERS!!! But we don't just want one more W, we want them all!!!!

But it's quickly been ruined by the group of Graham newbies that have taken over the thread. It's just a shame that they don't understand the ways of the board and that it's all in good fun what I'm doing:p

I also have to say it's a little incongruous to see people who've been here a matter of days trying to correct MODS and people who've been here for years.

Really was not trying to correct anyone, just did not understand how people could get on here and talk about the high school athletes in a bad manner reguardless of what he did just because they might have been a member longer or whatever the case. Now lets get it on! I think that some here think that Graham is overlooking Wimberley for what ever reason. Any team that has made it this far in the playoffs deserves credit and should not be overlooked. Graham will bring everything they have to the table this week, because if you don't you might not be here next. With that said Graham will have to eliminate the penalties and turnovers or we will be in for along night. At this stage of the game there are no given winners each week. It will come down to who plays four quarters of football and I think our boys are up to the challenge!!

Brownwood's fourth string QB threw for 420 yards against Graham but only 213 yards against Wimberley? .....or Brownwood accounted for 530 yards of total offense against Graham but only 334 against Wimberley?

Just wonderin' :confused::thinking:

1. Wylie might have the best 3A defense in the state!
2. Graham's defense is not the best in the state, but they are very good!
3. Brownwood turnovers= Missed opportunities for points.
4. Bwood vs. Graham was in Brownwood. = Homefield advantage
5. There wasn't a cornerback in the stated going to stop Shipley that night.

i will most likely be attending this one, due to it being in waco, but im very very interested in seeing Case McCoy. I know everyone has high expectations, and i want to see if he is forreal, and can play on the next level. I will definately be monitoring him closely to see if he has what it takes! Good luck to both teams, hoping to see a great game, and maybe meet some posters there.

Don't know that he has what it takes just yet, but I will say that this kid has done nothing but improve through out the year. When he commited to UT, I thought there was no way he would ever touch the field. Now I am not so sure about that. He is only 18 and will do nothing but get better, but it will tough to live up to his brothers status at UT.

I really believe it is. I for one will say that 4 games into the season, although we were undefeated, I would have never thought our boys would make it this far. This is what should make this a game great! Both teams leave everything on the field, and see what happens.

Well, in that case maybe I can help to clear things up-----

Wimberley folks, after having watched the Bulls play the Steers in 2 very close games, I can tell you for sure that the Steer mascot may be lacking, but the Steer players are most definitely not deficient in the "huevos" department. I say that as a testament to a worthy opponent who slugged it out and bested the Bulls in two games, and I assure you, will account themselves very well this week.

McCoy throws the ball well with good arm strength and accuracy, plus he has very good pocket presence and escapability for good yardage, which sustains a lot of drives. The Steer receivers are quick, run good patterns, and will go after the ball in a crowd with sure hands, even in double coverage. The RB is quick and slippery and can make good yards. The "O" line protects McCoy very well and can open holes for the RB. The defensive players are very savvy, sure tackling, and are rarely out of position unless blocked. To beat Graham, I think the blueprint for success has not changed the entire season---go after McCoy and get there before he can setup or escape, or cover well and long enough for the front 4 to get there, all the while keeping from getting gashed by the RB on the draw. Few teams have been able to do this effectively for an entire game, therefore Graham continues to advance.

I know almost nothing about the Wimberley Texans other than they have fielded some very fine, athletic teams that have done very well in the playoffs the last few years and I intend no disrespect to the Texans. Therefore, I can only tell you what I know from watching Graham twice this season, and know that they will give you a great game. I would like to see the Steers win this one, however, as they have been a quality fellow N. Central Texas neighborhood program in all sports for a number of years, and a lot of Steer faithful feel that this may be their year to bring home a state title. Then, of course, if the Steers do win the title, I can use the old adage that the Bulls were knocked out of the playoffs by the State Champ.

I look forward to this matchup between two teams that have never met---that broadens the interest of Texas highschool football. Best of luck to both teams.

And I'm going to be on the Wimberley side with Texan_Alum. So we are going to have to work something out before we all leave for the stadium friday. Any ideas?

Inmateboss.....I would never comment on something I didn't see for myself. If you have not seen it either you are not a very astute observer or you actually condone such behavior and see nothing wrong with it. Young McCoy is a very talented athlete that could learn alot from his brother about how to conduct himself on a football field. It is apparent his dad doesn't hold him to any kind of standard.

Yikes. Commenting on how a father might or might not guide his child with regards to "standards" is pretty sensitive territory. In fact, I personally think its out-of-bounds territory.

Great assessment Bullaholic. Probably the best so far. I think if anyone was to evaluate the Texans in a similar fashion, they would have to look at the play off games only (or mostly anyways). The regular season was sketchy at best. But the last 3 games...lots, lots better. It will come down to "stepping up". Sounds like Graham's charge will be to perform at the level they have been. Great game, i bet.

I am pretty sure that this kid is held to pretty high standards. Just like last week when he was talking to the official about a questionable call he got a pretty good earfull from his dad. WhatdoiKnow obviously does not know as much as he pretends to know. I am sure he played on some team that Graham beat this year and having problems dealing with it.

Great stats Inmateboss...probably the most pertinent stats for this game.

Using these stats, I predict the outcome will be Wimberley 105 Graham 38.

One of the things you might want to learn is not to misquote people.

Just for the record, I was told by a couple of Bridgeport people that they believed Coach McCoy did get hold of his son and get him settled down. And celebrate all you want, but running down your opponents' sideline and holding up a #1 sign is a classless move at best and is likely to stir them up against you. So an unwise move no matter how you look at it. I think it was pretty smart of Coach McCoy to get in Case's ear.

If you want to talk classless what about the bp fans booing the QB when he was asking the official a simple question which in fact should have been called pass interference. In my opinion that's classless. I said it before the Coaching Staff doesn't condone any kind of that behavior.

If the coaching staff doesn't condone it, then it was WRONG....right? You're talking on both sides of the issue now. And if that had been the first time Little McCoy pulled a stunt like that in the game, he wouldn't have been booed. If you can admit that Coach McCoy got a hold of Little McCoy and settled him down, then you should also be able to admit that Little McCoy was WRONG.

Dude, no kid is perfect. He's had some pretty impressive success and he let it go to his head. It didn't cost him the game, but it did cost him some potential fans. Dad took care of business. If you can't admit that, then let's just agree to disagree and let it go. You guys have bigger fish to fry now.

Bulls Fan I respect your opinion and most of your post....However, your quote "If the coaching staff doesnt condone it, then it was WRONG.....right?" Wrong from what perspective? I am not sure but I think McCoy #4 is captain of the team......If that is true I believe he has SOME team responsibility to communicate with the officials......IE What was the call? Who was the flag on? Would you look for this or that etc. SO I can't get on board with you about the BP fans booing a captain asking the official a question? I was at this game and was very close to BP side and the booing and comments being made (prior to the hash mark run by McCoy) by adults was well I will let you make the call? I have it from a source closer to the field than I was that a member of the BP coaching staff (Man Keeping Stats w BP hat on on the sidelines) shouted to #4 "Hey Dumb_ _ _ get back in the huddle you are not your older brother". Does this excuse taunting NO! The booing and Statisticians comments simply may be a cause not and excuseable reason. From a tactical standpoint it probably was not a good idea for hash mark running facing the opposing crowd for the Graham Team? Fueld the fire for BP as I saw it?
Just One More Thought on both teams: I am guessing there apprx. 100 total young men and coaches on the field during the game. I am also guessing there apprx. 75+/- total plays during the game. IF this is all the negatives we have to write about then I commend both coaching staffs, Athletes and All Parents of the Athletes:clap: Emotions over TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL are a hard thing to control dont care who you are.

Rustler, first off thanks for a calm rational post. If in fact the Bridgeport stats guy said that, then that's just as bad if not worse than any taunting done by a player. Adults should be held to a higher standard then kids should, and they ought to be able to control their emotions better.

As to the right/wrong issue, all I'm saying is that if the coach did get on to the QB, then the QB was doing something wrong. If Case got an earful, then Case did something to deserve an earful. You can't say both that "Case got an earful from his dad" and follow that with "Case didn't do anything wrong". You didn't say that, but others have. And this is just my personal opinion, but I do not like to see a HS player in the ref's ear several times during a game. YMMV, and clearly does.

And just for the record, I do not "like" to bag on your QB because he knocked us out of the playoffs. I've said over and over that I want you guys to go DEEP. So go on out there and whip some Wimberley behind!!

YES I agree cant have it both ways regarding either wrong or not wrong except when some jump to the conclussion that the Dad (aka coach) doesn't hold the son to any standard is very un-informed assumption (in my opinion). Colt McCoy was raised by the same parents as Case McCoy:doh: If you have raised children past the age of birth............You know each is different both good and bad. I trust we can kill this horse today and start ridding the Graham/Wimberley Horse or the Wylie/Lovejoy Horse to another district 2-3A win. Then Stay on the same Horse for Double District State Championship.

I bet that makes you happy. Ya'll have a chance of advancing this week because we are playing basketball. We all know the results of the first game and the second game would have had the same results, but we didn't pull out the win last week so we are setting at home now and preparing for next year. I do wish the Graham Steers the best of luck though. I will be supporitng the 2-3A to the bitter end.
