Players are bigger faster stronger to begin with - add the juice and look out

It may be time to redesign the helmet. I have never looked into the issue. I have a couple of designs in my head that look good on paper as a concept but would not be easy or cheap to make. But you could do it with off the shelf tech.

I think the article said something about the helmet having to be so big that the players would probably break their necks instead.

That is the implication at least ...

Would the game of American football ... become dis-interesting without the helmet?

Would Americans find it dis-interesting without the threat of serious injury ... like NASCAR without the deadly crash?

I'm not really this old, but... our helments my fresman year in HS had rope suspensions in them. We just inherited years of hand me downs. We considered it lucky if we got the little pads that you wore at the top of your head and didn't have bare rope. Then again, that might explain a lot of things. :crazy1: :crazy1: :crazy1: :ack!: :ack!:

Sorry BF ... but that design in your head ... comes from too much hunger ... and it failed initial product testing ...

they could use boxing headgear. Maybe that'd be better than nothing at all.

I can't believe Dow Chemical doesn't jump in with basic dsposable Styrofoam helmet. Cheap ... and light and wouldn't injure anyone.

Of course the field would be littered in a non-environmentally friendly way, but come on ... it is football!

Or perhaps we could? ... Dare I say it? ... Nerf?
