So BDR and I have been talking about 4x4s, "hunting buggies" etc.....more specifically...Gen. II Toyota 4Runners. I picked up a very clean 1992 for $1200.00 about a month ago. It has a slight motor knock that the original seller thought was a bearing.....I think it's a bad "knock sensor" which is causing a slight timing issue. That's a $45 fix. I've put a new radio in it, as it didn't have one. Replaced the blown, dry rotted orig. speakers. New plugs, air filter, all 4 shocks, sea foamed it, which INSTANTLY stopped all hesitation, and sputtering, and also improved gas mileage. Did the 1st oil change awhile back, and got it registered and tagged. Items coming soon....light bar, "The Mule" by Baja Rack......and eventually a new set of BFG All-Terrains. Then comes a new front bumper w/ wench well & wench.

Here are a few pics of what I call the "WarRunner" :D

The day I brought her home:

Did you get her from craiglist? Actually, I DID find her on CL. Some kid and his dad over off of the Beltway on the north side. Said when the engine started knocking he parked it and put a for sale sign on it. I'm convinced it's a bad O2 or knock sensor from everything I've read. It's next on the list...gonna take it and have it hooked up to the diagnostics machine, and see for sure here shortly. At any rate...she's getting a fresh long block dropped in here around tax return time. :D

I've looked at everything from the larger 3.4L to GM 4.3L, and even the Toyota 3.0L I4 turbo diesel that comes in em everywhere BUT in the states......ultimately, I decided that would all be too time consuming and labor intensive. You can get a fresh 3VZE (the orig. 3.0L V6) for about $2300. So total I'd have about $3800 into her after dropping in a fresh engine. I'm still way ahead of the curve if I do.

Easiest way to do it (the way I do it) is get a Photobucket account (http://photobucket.com/).

After you do that, simply upload the picture(s) to Photobucket and go through the (IMG) button on top of your text box when replying to this thread.

I don't know how well you know computers, but in case you need a walk-through, here it is.

TO UPLOAD IMAGES TO PHOTOBUCKET:
-At the top of your Photobucket page, there should be a box that says "Upload Videos and Images." Click on that.

-After clicking, it will open up a window with all the files on your computer. Select the file(s) you want upload and click "Select" or "Open at the bottom of the window. You can choose more than one file by holding down the "CTRL" or "Apple" button while clicking the file.

TO UPLOAD IMAGES ONTO THE DOWNLOW:
-In Photobucket, if you scroll the cursor (the arrow that corresponds with your mouse) over a picture, a drop-down box will appear below the picture with several Text boxes ("Email & IM," "Direct Link," etc.) and icons (one for Myspace, one for Facebook, etc.).

-Copy and paste the text box immediately to the right of "Direct Link." First, highlight the box (the letters will have a blue background). Then, hold down the "CTRL" key on your keyboard (or "Apple" key if you run a Mac) and press the "C" key while still holding "CTRL." This will copy that text.

-Back on the Downlow, reply to this thread.

-Directly above the box in which you're typing and below the smiley faces are two rows of buttons. Look for the "IMG" button on the second row and click it.

-A window will pop up asking for your link. To paste the direct link here, hold down the "CTRL" key on your keyboard once again, but this time press the "V" key. The text will paste. Then click on the "OK" button in the pop-up window.

-The image should appear at the bottom of your post.

Hope this helped you out with whatever steps you may have needed. Look forward to seeing your rig.

I guess I could not import photos from Facebook so here are some links. I did all the body work and painting myself in a buddies carport. First try turned out pretty good.

So....I've encountered my first "issue". Thought my tranny had "let go"......but it turns out it is possibly just a clogged trans. filter...HOPEFULLY! :)

Hey IHStangfan, I def. like the 4runner ya got! Before Toyota came out with the FJCs, the 4runners are the SUV i wanted most! That looks like a perfect one to serve its purpose for you. What kind of AR is that you got? I like the setup!

What kind of AR is that you got? I like the setup! Thanks! Yeah...when I was a teenager my uncle had an 89 Toyota pickup...4x4, etc. I drove it in the summers when I'd go up and visit them. I LOVED it. Then somewhere along the way I decided I wanted a 4Runner in the same body style (the Gen II's)....I finally got one. It's in great shape for being 17yrs old.

The AR....I built it from scratch piece by piece. Rock River Arms Varminter A4 upper in 16", RRA lower w/ Hogue grip, Magpul PRS fully adjustable buttstock, Tubb Speedlock flat spring, hydraulic buffer, RRA Hi-Rise scope mount, Burris Fullfield II w/ illuminated BDC, Harris bipod, etc. etc. etc. Got about 2 large tied up in it...but MAAAAAN it's a sweet shooter. I've got a Hogue free float tube that I've yet to install, as I need to get it drilled and tapped for the front lug to attach the bipod.

:)
