Here are updated stats through the end of the 2009 Playoffs.

To be eligible for the winning percentage rankings a team must have played at least 50% of the time in question, thus Argyle (8 years fielding a varsity team) and Lovejoy (2 years fielding a varsity team) are excluded from the 20, 30, 40 and 50 year rankings and Wimberley (22 years fielding a varsity team) is excluded from the 50 year rankings. ALL teams were included in the rankings for this decade.

Way to Go Sinton !!! becoming of the most winningest teams in the coastal bend besides Calallen. Maybe the second best in the Corpus Christi area:D :D

Hey WOS87 ever thought of trying the Coastal Bend area or the Corpus Christi area to see where Sinton ranks:D :D

If you look at the home page of this site you can see all classifications including the Statewide rankings from last year. I've only just begun updating for this season - starting with 3A of course! One of the few positives from WO-S getting knocked out early is that I can start focussing on my updates a few weeks earlier.

Just pointing out a fact to a few SE TX haters from elsewhere:

WO-S actually won more games this decade and lost fewer than they did in BOTH the 1990's and 1980's

2000-2009 95-21-0
1990-1999 90-23-1
1980-1989 93-25-1

I've added in the results of the Bi-District games for 2009 so the teams listed in RED are the only ones still alive going into Week 12 2009.

Cool stuff WOS87.

Props to Coach Rogers for turning the Snyder program around in recent years.

And Brownwood? Too much 4A to get in the rankings?

No, you just have to go back 30 years. :p

Chicken ;)

Interestingly enough, there are several "horrible" non-spread teams in the top 20 over the past decade. :vrycnfsd: :vrycnfsd:

UPDATE: Standings have been updated through the 2nd round of the 2009 playoffs

Looks like WO-S will pull ahead of Celina for real to take the lead in the 30 year winning percentage rankings (WO-S was only 0.02% ahead prior to the Celina-Kennedale game)

WOS,

what is the all time record for any team over any single decade?

i'd say that given the expanded playoffs Celina's 132 wins is up there.

Celina fans should take a step back and look at how lucky they are. 132-14? 9 of those losses were in the last two years. I have been more proud of us the last two years than i have in a while--and these young men should hold their heads high for representing us for so well, regardless of the record this year or any other.

ACTUALLY, Celina is on a downswing as their 143 wins from 1998-2007 is the all-time record over any 10 year period. I haven't updated this since the end of 2007 but I would imagine most of the records below are still standing as none of the teams in question have had stellar seasons in '08 or '09 except for maybe Refugio and of course Highland Park who continues to extend their stats in the 80+ year records.

The table below only includes numbers through Week 15 of 2007 with only Celina and Highland Park playing in week 16 among contenders. Celina won in Week 16 so you can tack on 1 win to each of Celina's record win totals below.

Dynasties

I finally have the numbers of the records for wins over consecutive seasons updated with 2007 numbers added in up through Week 15. 62 new records have been set so far in 2007 including 5 by Southlake Carroll, 8 by Plano, 9 by Refugio, 17 by Celina and 23 by Highland Park. Celina's and HP's new records are listed in green as they still have one game remaining to play at the time of compiling this and those numbers could possibly increase by another win. As Highland Park currently holds the record for most All-Time wins in Texas with 699, there's no point in going back further than 85 seasons.

The following are the #1 ranked "dynasties" for each possible window of time ranging from 3 seasons to 85 seasons over the entire history of high school football in Texas using total wins as the ranking criteria. I'm putting together another using winning percentage, which will bring in some of the older era programs that didn't have the ability to play 16 games in a season to pad their win totals.

You have to realize how many datapoints were compiled and compared here to see the significance of the teams and time windows listed. Each of the listed "dynasties" below is #1 out of tens of thousands that it was compared against.

UPDATE: The stats in the original post are now complete through the end of 2009 for ALL current 3A teams

Carthage actually moved up into the Top 25 on quite a few of the rankings just in their past 6 playoff wins
