Have I ever told you ... I do not like turnovers? :(

The Bobcats are lucky they are playing a not so good 10 and 0 team.

Celina running better and more consistently, which is important. Having Worrell back at QB makes the running game a little better.

They continue to run down the field, now utilizing left, right and middle.

Touchdown Romero after a 20 yard run

FINAL
Celina 35, Van Alstyne 14

Celina (7-4) and VA finishes the year (10-1).

congratulations to the Panthers on a fine season. This was probably their best team since the state finalist in 2A d1 a few years ago, and reminded of their early '90's teams. Congratulations on their district title and big wins over Paris and Farmersville!

Thanks for reporting.

Tough 1st round draw for a district champ. Congrats to VA for nice season and Celina for advancing.

Appreciate the kind words from the Celina folks. Like I mentioned in earlier posts, I would consider a closer game in the playoffs this year with Celina progress for Van Alstyne's program. Being the smallest 3A school in the playoffs, we just don't have the numbers.

With next year's alignment, it's a good bet that VA will move down to 2A. So we'll miss our yearly Celina meetings. ;)

I am on here to eat my crow! I already bought a bottle of BBQ sauce on the way home. I truly thought VA would give Celina a much closer game. I was wrong. Not the first time and not the last either. Congrats to Celina on the big win and congrats to VA on a great season. Go on....Let me have it....I am man enough to come on here and admit I was smoking crack.....Who does Celina play next week???

VA had their chances, they just couldn't capitalize. When Celina gives you a gift on the opening kickoff, and you can't convert that to points, well.... you ain't going to win many playoff games that way. Like I said earlier, VA played Celina closer this year. That is progress for the program and VA will grow from it.

If I read the brackets right, Kennedale is up next for Celina. That will be an interesting game!

The bracket gives Celina a sense of deja vu the next two weeks. Kennedale next week and Pittsburg after that. I'd be shocked if it's Pleasant Grove instead of Argyle in the region finals.

Oh, and congratulations on Butch Ford for his 100th career head coaching victory. He may be the quickest to 100 in state history.

Shocking score of the night from the 1A ranks: Collinsville (5-5) 56, No. 3 Quinlan Boles (10-0) 21.

district 16 sweeps BYE...good job

Kennedale wins over a moderate Madison team with 1 pass for the game.....Celina defense against a running team....in the playoffs....I have seen this 1 many times and almost always the result has been the same....

this week in D2 the district 9 teams knock out another district entirely....go get em boys....

VA was a decent looking set of kids. They had some really good individual plays but not enough to string it together for TDs. Celina is playing like a tired driver late at night. Start heading to ditch, hear the tires hitting the rocks and then straighten back up for a while... WAKE UP--- We are playing games for a shot at a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. That goes for fans too.
