After two fumbles and giving up an 80+ yrd pass for a TD, we are very, very lucky to only be down by 9. Being a 2nd half team (unfortunate but true) I say we have a shot at this game.

I trust Coach Smith to get the defense to tighten up. If we hold them to one more score only, we definitely can win this game.

The refs sure didnt give yall the game, but they sure gave you a big nudge. Not to take anything away from the Texans,they played very well. but the texan qb stepped out twice on that last td. now there was still sixteen seconds left so it may have been for nothing but he should have been down at the 13 or so. also the so called horse collar tackle was wrong because he tackled him forward not back. With that said great game Texans, good luck next week

Great game, it came down to who's ever D could make one stop and fortunately ours stepped up and made a stop at the end. The refs were flat out terrible on both sides, they had no clue what was going on half the game. But to say they gave us the game is a little far fetched, the punt return at the end is very questionable as our guy had signaled fair catch and when he caught it he stumbled foward which made it look to the Glen Rose players like he was gonna run. Personally I think you dont throw the flag in that situation but the bad calls went both ways in this one and it shouldnt take away how hard these teams played. But our D needs to step up and Smith was a beast tonite, very impressive and he couldnt be stopped. One of the most exciting games ive watched in a long time and the Texans didnt quit and fought back to win it.

Good post Gold- it was a long ride home from Killeen for me thinking what could have been, I thought a call here or there was questionable but GR had some chances to make some plays and we didnt when we needed to. The RB was good for 6 yards everytime he touched the ball he also had the chance to break it everytime, Wimberley could have laid down early in the first when we were on them but they fought on and got the W. If we take care of business on the 2nd and 2 from your 2 then we dont have to worry about the 15 personal foul, but we didnt. Congratulations and good luck

Just returned from the Wimberley GR game and to say that the officials played favorites is clearly not the case. The officials were confused all night. First half five penalties and two fumbles by the Texans killed several drives. Holding call took away a 1st and 10 at the GR 15 yd line. Instead we ended up back at the 45 and had to punt. Just before half the refs couldn't determine how to handle a defensive holding call against the Texans. They eventually added the penalty to the end of the play giving GR good field position. Don't blame the refs, look at the big plays. Texan Defense in the second half really looked like they couldn't stop GR, but after thinking about it GR only scored 14 in the second half with the stop by the Texans inside the Texan 5 yard line huge. But it was clear that we just couldn't defend the pass; so I am not sure why with less than 2 minutes left GR decided to run instead of pass. First downs give the win to GR. Nevertheless, the stop of QB on 3rd and 13 was a big play. On the punt we did fair catch and he had to come forward to make a clean catch, the GR defender was too close and caused the stumble. Several sitting in our area called it before the flag even came out. The run by Blakemore was as good as it gets. Especially since he had been running out of bounds all night to avoid getting a hit on his shoulder. I guess he was baiting GR for the last play, cause it looked to me like several GR players had a shot at him but thought he was going to step out and just let him blow on by. At any rate great win for the Texans, Smith dominated tonight and showed how talented he can be when he plays with heart and determination. GR was a very good team and played hard; we were fortunate to come out with the win. I have watched Wimberley football since the first year Wimberley began playing and this one tonight goes down as one of the top playoff comeback victories in Wimberley history. It was one of the more entertaining games as well. Congratulations to Coach Nelms and coaching staff for pushing this team to another gear.

I am drawing off of earlier post by Wimbo noting that the GR broadcasters announced that the "refs gave Wimberley the game" as well as several other comments. Maybe the use of the word favoritism should be replaced with late opportune calls by the refs that favored Wimberley. I did feel that towards the end of the game there were way too many calls. My point is that the refs did seem to be confused throughout the game and that is unfortunate for both Wimberley and GR. GR left it all on the field and both teams played with a lot of effort. By the way I am hopeful that the young man who went down during the game is doing well. Please give an update when available. Our prayers go out for he and his family.

Yes the refs were bad on both sides all night but the refs were anything but one sided. Any way a win is a win. GR fought hard and was a very good team. But the texans just wanted it more. And to answer the dennis smith age question no he is not 18 hes not old enough to legaly drive:)

GR Fan...you are a class act and a gracious opponent. You could easily blame the refs (at least a little even) but you did not, in any way. I know FOR SURE if this had been a district game (one team in particular), all you would be reading this morning is how Wimberley bought off the refs. This, I can guarantee you, would have gone on for weeks. I guess I expected it, so please excuse my comment.

Remember that the commentators were from GR, so of course you would expect SOME bias. But they actually did a damned good job...far better than some of the fellow-district broadcasts I have heard.

Good luck to you and the boys...what is their general age? Lots of seniors? juniors?

I agree, They were very lost the whole game.They seemed to not call anything for a long time then it seemed like they had a quota to fill. It was crazy on both sides, we just got our bad calls at the worst time.
Of course on your last Td if we would have made the tackle then it wouldn't have come down to that ref watching his feet. It was a great effort by number 10. And Smith was all we could handle. Great Game, :clap:

I know about dennis he goes to my school he is the most amazing person in the whole world everybody loves him here at wimberley high school he is very nice he laughs jokes and loves life he is alot of fun to be around hes in my math biololgy and world geogrophy class he is always full of smiles i have known hom since the 7th grade he rocks!

Got more on dennis. Football is not all he does he actually has a job he works with my boyfriend. He has his motivs straight and of course never gets in trouble cause he is WHS idol. lol. But i dot know any one who wouldnt want him in pro you should look more in to his amazingness and see for yourself:) His year in school is 9th grader 16 years old 200 pounds and graduates 2012. Any thing else you would like to know?

If he was 16 as a freshman, he would be 17 as a sophmore right?
