It's over: Monahans wins final set 15-11. Dalhart called for a net violation for a 14-11 Monahans lead and then a hitting error by Dalhart ends the match. Monahans qualifies for Region I-3A Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Levelland High School.

Fifth set, fourth update: Monahans leads 13-11 and calls timeout after Dalhart setter Shelby Wilt records a kill.

Fifth set, third update: Monahans leads 10-6 and Dalhart calls timeout after Lady Loboes senior Kristi Holly delivers a kill.

Fifth set, second update: Monahans leads 8-5 and takes a timeout after Dalhart's Mallory Jeffers sneaks an ace over the tape.

Fifth set, first update: Monahans leads 6-2 and Dalhart takes a timeout. Lady Loboes went into the timeout off a Shelbi Cornelius kill that ended a monster rally. Kali Lewis had a big kill and Amy Rose opened the set with a pair of big kills.

Fourth set, final update: Monahans wins 25-19 to force a decisive fifth set. Monahans never trailed in the set -- something new in this match -- and held off Dalhart down the stretch. Dalhart's Katelyn Albers has a match-high 19 kills and Marlee Reynolds has 14. Monahans has a team-high 15 kills from Shelbi Cornelius and 11 from Amy Rose in addition to 3.5 blocks from Kali Lewis. Somebody tell Laura Dennis we need more deadline time since it's 9:52.

Fourth set, update 3: Monahans leads 19-13 after a block by Shelbi Cornelius and Kali Lewis, with Lewis now having 2.5 blocks for the match. Lewis also had a kill and a Kati Holly kill helped Monahans on a three-point run.

Fourth set, update 2: Monahans leads 12-8 but takes a timeout after a three-point run by Dalhart. Shelbi Cornelius has four kills in the set and Kati Holly has three for Monahans.

Fourth set, update 1: Monahans 7-2 lead. Glimmer of hope?

Third set (final): Dalhart 25, Monahans 23. Lady Loboes take 23-22 lead on a net violation, but a pair of attacking errors gave Dalhart set point and Mallory Jeffers delivered a perfect crosscourt kill for a 2-1 Dalhart lead.

Third set, update 3: Dalhart ties it 22-22 on a kill by Marlee Reynolds and a block by Mallory Jeffers.

Third set, update 2: Monahans leads 22-20, Dalhart calls first timeout. Monahans mounted comeback, missed three serves to hurt itself and then went ahead for the first time in the set at 21-20.

Third set, update 1: Dalhart leads 10-6 and Monahans calls timeout. Pendulum has swung and Dalhart is dictating play with seven kills and two blocks.

Second set (final): Dalhart 26, Monahans 24. Dalhart outfights Lady Loboes at 24-24 by digging a pair of free-ball attacks and then gets a touch call on an attack going way long. Monahans had three set points but now is in a dogfight.

Second set, update 4: Monahans leads 24-23 and takes a timeout after losing two consecutive points. Lady Loboes led 24-21 but have made two consecutive attacking errors.

Second set, update 3: Monahans leads 21-18, Dalhart takes second timeout after an ace by Shelbi Cornelius. Kills by Kristi Holly and Erin Fisher and a solo block by Kali Lewis led to the lead.

Second set, update 2: Monahans leads 17-16 after a kill by Kali Lewis. Dalhart led 15-11 and looked to be in command, helped in large part by sketchy Monahans serving -- five service errors in the set alone.

Second set, update 1: Dalhart leads 11-7, Monahans calls timeout. Monahans not running offense to perfection quite yet and hanging around with defense.

First set (final): Monahans 25, Dalhart 16. It didn't start like it ended for the Lady Loboes, who trailed 3-0 off the bat and 9-6 before finding their feet.

An eight-point run, including seven on the serve of senior defensive specialist Michelle Azuaje (I might learn to spell her name by the end of the season) put Monahans ahead 14-9 and it was one-sided from there.

Azuaje had three aces in the opening set, Shelbi Cornelius had four kills, Amy Rose had three kills and Erin Fisher had 12 assists. And Monahans had lots of good defense.

First set, update 2: Monahans leads 18-12 to force a second Dalhart timeout. Monahans defense has played well to keep points alive.

First set: Monahans leads 13-9 and Dalhart takes a timeout. Dalhart led 9-6 before a seven-point run by Monahans.
