China Spring vs Canyon Lake [Archive]

China Spring Cougars vs Canyon Lake Hawks, Saturday, November 14, 8:00 pm, Bernard Birkelbach Field, Georgetown

Who wins this one? I am really interested to hear some input on these teams, as the Bulls play the winner in Rd2. I may even make the trip to Georgetown to see this one firsthand.

CS offense is really rolling right now. Defense has struggled, but made some big plays to secure some wins. Of course like most teams this time of year, we have quite a few injuries mounting up. I know nothing about Canyon Lake, but am sure it will be a toss up.

IF, Canyon Lake's receivers can catch the passes, it COULD be a good game, but mostly likely CS will set um down pretty hard.

In the Burnet game, the CL QB was something like 13 of 30 something. Most misses were drops by the reveivers.

You can throw the Burnet game out we did not play several starters or held them out due to injuries. We will back 100% this week. At times our defense struggles with the passing game so we expect to have our hands full. We have moved the ball well against every team we have played this year but have struggled inside the 20 that will have to stop if we plan on winning this game. If we play like we are capable this should be a good game. I look for high scoring game.

going to go with the hawks...it will be an up hill battle I'm just wondering whats happening with the hawk offense last two games out v. fred and burnet........i really felt they were getting better as the season progressed.........Congrats and Good luck.

CS comesback from 11 down and scores 47 against Glen Rose who had given up 47 to the previous 4 teams it played ( Gatesville and West being two of them) and comes from 21 down to score 42 against Gatesville. Get ready!

As I said probably going to be a high scoring game CS defense had 85 points scored on it the last 2 games also believe Gatesville went for the win instead of a tie.
CL offense will be ready the defense will have to step it up and avoid the big play.

clhsdad, I'm feel sure you know it. but others recognize it also....the Hawks (and staff) have done a fantastic job ever since the school opened. Being competitive and in the playoffs in only two years (?) of exsistence is beyond what anyone could ever think might take place......

Thanks, we have a great coaching staff and pretty proud of the boys too. This is our 3rd year open and 2nd in varsity. We took our lumps the first year in a really tough district. I think that helped us grow up in a hurry.

That explains how you can make the playoffs in such a short period of time. I believe you are right, it will be a high scoring affair. We have 2 more defensive starters out. CS can score in bunches really quick though. Already wish it was Saturday.

I agree with what was said earlier, making the playoffs in that district is tough for any team. To do it in 2nd year is unheard of.

Looking forward to the game. We always enjoy playing team from district 7. They always seem to be really good kids in good programs.

CS seems to be up and down this year, but they usually get on a roll when the playoffs start.
I think CS wins in a close game.

I feel that the defensive performances have been kinda up and down this year, but injuries can be attested to that. Offensively, I feel that we've pretty pretty consistent in production. Sure there have been the low scoring affairs, but the offense still played well. Hoping for CS to make a deep run so I can make a game. But we'll take it one game at a time. CS by 14.

Who is home/visitor in this game? I have never sat on the visitor's side of our stadium and probably won't now. Thinking of going, though, and want to know amongst whose clan I would be sitting.

No doubt I am rooting for Canyon Lake!!! I gotta funny feeling on this one that CL will pull this out for their first play off appearance and win...in fact, I kind of think CL will go deeper than many think, becoming the talk of the 3A world due to their young age. OK, maybe its more of a wish...but I have a feeling about this!!!!

Looks like CS's main threat is their RB/DB, #32. Saw his brag film up on youtube, and he's pretty good. CS has a pretty good overall team, but CL will have to shut #32 down to win.

Yes, with a QB with 3,000 yards passing with 28 TD's, go head and focus on 32.

My thoughts too, I believe we will focus more on the QB and a couple of receivers.

If CS wins, it wil play Bridgeport on Friday the 20th at Mansfield.

Not positive on Canyon Lake win, but I heard Waco ISD.

There is a 4 A game there at 2:00. So about 5:00 there will be a stream of cars leaving the parking lot. Just an FYI for the tailgating location.

Yeah. It's on the south end. There's a road to walk on on top of the south end zone wall that goes behind the scoreboard. That could be a meeting place for a M&G.

Breaking news out of China Spring. After hearing that # 32 would not be suiting up this week. I found out last night that #32 will be suited up and ready to go Saturday.
