The Lee county live website is posting that the game is going to be played in Austin at Nelson field (by the Reagan Campus).
Friday Night @ 7:30pm

Buffs are home team but will wear white uniforms.

(Maybe our LH peeps will come root for us? Y'all are welcome)

I think the deal makers were hoping to play at Waller but the Lagrange/Sweeny game might have forced them out.

Not sure why, but I can't remember playing but a couple or few Saturday playoff games in the last few years. I wish our coach would opt for more Saturday day games so the fans can travel more safely.

r u kidding me.....sat day games, what type of season is this. who will leave the deer stand to come watch a game at 1 or 2 on a sat. afternoon. play on friday night. the 5a teams that have huge stadiums have first call on them and the 3a and below just have to make due until it gets later on in the playoffs. please people think before you write......

I like friday games, boys know the routine, friday night lights, and leaves the weekend open for the fans to do what they want. Hunt, fish, lounge, watch college football and so on.

I am assuming that they flipped home and home, and giddings won?

It's Friday night lights, not Saturday! Plus if you play on Saturday you are taking away a work day for the coaches to prepare for the next game!

Its true that Friday night lights is the traditional time frame. But with more fans traveling further, I am only thinking of everybodys' safety.
Its all about priority and perspective. I can go hunting most anytime. Fan of the game, real hunters (archery) already have their freezers filled anyway. I can DVR most any college game worth watching. BUT, I PUTS OUR BUFFS AT THE TOP OF THE LIST DURING THIS TIME OF THE YEAR!!! When they are done with Brookshire, you'll have plenty of time to go hunt... :D

Now if you had used back bay fishing as an argument, I might have agreed with you...

If it's priority, and you put the buffs at the top of the list, then why even start this thread? it's friday so be there or don't.
and with the "When they are done with Brookshire, you'll have plenty of time to go hunt... " comment, i plan on not hunting until after christmas, the state title game is the w/end before. and yes, i do use a bow and yes i rifle hunt around here, but we still have a lease in the hill country that gets used about 1/4 of what it should, but i wouldn't have it any other way.

I think this may be a much better match up than a lot of people are thinking. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Brookshire Royal pulls the "upset". BR has really come on in the last couple of games and they are FAST FAST FAST!!

GO FALCONS!!!

fan of the game, I was just ribbing you. After all, you informed me that I need to think about what I'm writing. After some thought, I think if the Buff's are healthy on game night, (and I'll be there), I think the Buffs will pull out a win.

We are used to traveling much further distances to play these games and if I'm thinking correctly, Brookshire isn't so used to it as of recent. So my thought process is that Brookshire fans will be somewhat tired if they go home after the game. The game will last until around 10pm and its about 110 miles home. I think that won't leave you much time to sleep if you want to get to the deer blind before sunup.

This is all just good hearted smack talk. Nothing personal. Lighten up. It's how things work on this board....I think.:p

I guess we should all stay home and just give the state title to GILMER since they are ranked 1st in DCTF right? Why even play the games?

I dont see La Grange on their either and they had a good shot at beating Giddings. An overthrown pass to a wide open receiver in the endzone with seconds to go was the difference in that game. You don't have to be ranked to win a football game.

BR 50 - Giddings 14...

D26 too much for the D25 runner up... BR brings a mediocre record to round 1 of the playoffs where I think the Buffs have been and won before... like 5 times in a row... Still too much... And the brutal D25 schedule has not helped the Buffs get ready for any type challenge... Good luck to both teams and better luck next year Giddings...

IF.... Won't be close... BR cruises past a slow and weak Giddings team... Too much speed in BR and not enough in Buffville... Plus that stout BR Defense will shut down the Buff O, no weapons on that side either...I heard they already put a cape with an S on that TB???

BR's line averages 145 lbs to giddings 379.5 lbs.

BR's backs average 40 time is 4.8 to giddings 4.39

Didn't remember talking about Sweeny speed last year either till I looked at the score, 41-9. Maybe they are refering to how quickly they were out of the game last year. ;)

You are correct, rankings mean nothing. We know that well from 2 years ago when we were #1 most of the year and then crashed and burned in the 2nd round.

So no one from Giddings, especially the team, is overlooking BR or any other team at this point. One week at a time!

I expect a hard fought game with Giddings pulling away to win by 14.

Yes, he's back. But #75, who got his first start against ya'll really started playing well and had great games against the rest of the teams in district. Thus he's got the start and the guy that was out on grades is giving him a breather every once in a while. Our D-line is very solid adn healty going into the playoffs.

Oh great wet one, we are just appreciative that your highness has taken the time to laugh at our lowly posts.

For the most part, our team is healthy. A few bangs and bruises here and there. DT is back. Playing some offense too. He can pancake many an opponent. #5 has been out since early in the year.

The 2nd and 3rd stringers have been playing the majority of the last half for the last 2 games. Done fairly well I might add.

This team has exceeded my expectations. They have the talent to go deep into the playoffs.

Well according your power rankings....this should all make sense a

If my BCS computer-like logic serves me right the Italy Gladiators (1A) should easily defeat the so called mighty Southlake Carroll Dragons (ranked #1 in 5A) if ever they would schedule one another. Watch as my foolproof logic unfolds....

You see Italy defeated mighty Wortham 35-12
who defeated 2A Corsicana Mildred 27-6
who defeated 2A Kerens 17-14
who defeated 2A Edgewood 25-21
who defeated 3A Canton 34-21
who defeated 3A Kaufman 21-14
who defeated 3A Chapel Hill 49-42
who defeated 3A Westwood 27-26
who defeated 3A Madisonville 36-21
who defeated 3A Yoe 25-19
who defeated 3A Navasota 24-22
who defeated 3A Belleville 24-14
who defeated 4A Livingston 28-13
who defeated 4A Beaumont Central 10-6
who defeated 5A Port Author Memorial 28-21
who defeated 5A Houston North Shore 7-6
who defeated the 5A Southlake Carroll Dragons 28-15

Wins and losses and scores don't lie!

Guess Giddings is set then...no need for anybody to even show up I guess

Ok, so if you want to talk about the game, tell us about your team. What type of offense do they play? Who's the team's standouts? Have they come from behind to win any games late in the 4th? Are they loaded with seniors, or have a bunch of underclassmen?

OldBison75

Brookshire has speed to burn and there is no doubt that they can score very quickly. Giddings has opened up the playbook this year and not only can run the ball down your throat like in years past, they can pass very effectively and often when needed. I think this Giddings team will prove to be much better in the playoffs this year than in the past few because of that dual threat offense. During the year, Giddings has has some bad weeks, like most teams do. But, they have not had problems putting up offensive numbers. Brookshire can put up numbers too, but they have tended to give up alot of points at the same time. I think Giddings offense will score too many points and the defense will keep the Royal speed in check well enough to win.

Giddings 28
Brookshire Royal 14
