from Waco Tribune-Herald: (note the attendance estimate - what happened to those 4,000-6,000 from Marlin? :D or the 10,000 "regulars" from Burnet? :D )
Top-ranked Burnet rolls over Marlin, 35-6

BURNET — With 8,000 fans eager to see a favorite son make history, Burnet showed it's more than a one-man football team.
The Burnet Bulldogs, hoping senior Jordan Shipley would break two state receiving records, didn't get their wish, but they celebrated a 35-6 victory over visiting Marlin on Friday night.
Shipley caught seven passes for 91 yards, 11 short of former Stephenville receiver Cody Cardwell's career mark of 4,241, set from 1996 to 1998. Double-teamed the entire game, Shipley was used as a decoy on many offensive plays, a tactic that helped his teammates to big plays.
Cody Warner scored three touchdowns, one on a 55-yard strike from all-state quarterback Stephen McGee to cap Burnet's scoring.
Burnet (5-0) has won 19 of its past 20 games, dating back to last year's season opener against Austin Reagan.
Burnet coach Bob Shipley, Jordan's dad, said his Bulldogs' defense stole the show. Marlin's only touchdown came on a fumble return late in the fourth quarter.
ards every game, but that's not going to happen. He'll get his chance.''
Shipley also caught one touchdown pass, giving him 54 in his high school career. He needs only one more to tie former Ennis receiver Broderick Jones, who caught 55 from 1999 to 2001. His best moment was a 28-yard score on a halfback pass from Chris Levens in the third quarter.
With many of the overflow crowd sitting in lawn chairs behind the west end zone, Burnet scored on drives of 58, 38 and 88 yards in the first half. A 21-0 halftime edge brought a sigh of relief to Burnet fans who recalled last year's 27-21 overtime thriller against Marlin, their team's most competitive game of the regular season. Burnet twice converted fourth downs to keep scoring drives alive.
Warner showed versatility while scoring on a six-yard run and a 10-yard touchdown catch, both in the first quarter.
Shipley's 5-yard run through the center of the line.
Burnet's defense, meanwhile, limited Marlin (1-3) to two first downs in the first half. Shipley intercepted his first pass of the season to stop one drive, and linebacker Ben Rountree created havoc in Marlin's backfield, forcing quarterback Jeremy Sanders into several poor passes.
